Four days ago, the wards of Volodymyr Pyatenko conceded to Poland (0:1) and after this defeat lost any chance to fight for a place in League A. To avoid being relegated directly to League C, blue-and-yellow had to earn as many points as possible to not be overtaken by Greece or become the worst third-placed team in League B.

The match of the final, 6th round Serbia — Ukraine took place in the Serbian town of Sremska Mitrovica at the central stadium of the national teams' football base.

Both teams played evenly in the first half. In our team, the most active was Hryhin, who made several shots and missed her chance to score against Glushchenko. Among the Serbians, the most dangerous attempts came from Poljak and Damjanovic.

At the beginning of the second half, Glushchenko found herself in a scoring position inside the penalty area but Kostic saved her shot. However, on the 55th minute our team took the lead — the goalkeeper parried Khymych's shot, but Hryhin was there to score the rebound. In the end, blue-and-yellow managed to maintain their advantage and beat the hosts — 1:0.

Thus, Ukraine's national team secured third place in the group and managed to overtake Slovenia in the ranking of third-placed teams, avoiding relegation to League C for now. The wards of Volodymyr Pyatenko are now awaiting play-off matches which will take place in February 2024 (draw — December 11). Among potential opponents — Bulgaria, Latvia, Montenegro.
