To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 10:00 on October 21, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The sixth hundred and fifth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

Last night, Russian occupiers launched another missile-air attack on Ukraine, using guided aviation missiles X-59, cruise missiles "Iskander-K" and strike UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type. Information about the consequences of this terrorist attack is being clarified.

Over 100 combat encounters took place over the past day. The enemy cynically struck a school in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region with missiles; the educational institution building was almost completely destroyed. In total, the enemy launched nine missile and 39 air strikes, carried out 50 artillery attacks from multiple rocket launchers on our troops' positions and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among civilians. Schools, multi-story and private residential buildings, as well as other civilian infrastructure were destroyed or damaged.

Air strikes hit Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Klyshchivka, Kurdyumivka, New York, Avdiivka, Keramik, Lastochkine, Novomikhailivka, Staromajorskoe, Urozhayne in the Donetsk region; Zmiyivka, Berislav, Kosatske, Novoberezlav, Tyaginka and Pridniprovske in the Kherson region.

Artillery shelling affected nearly 110 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "North" on the Volynian and Polesian fronts, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi fronts the enemy maintains military presence in border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening directions, increases mine-explosive barriers along the state border in Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Khortytsia" on the Kupyansk front, Ukrainian soldiers repelled over 20 enemy attacks near Sinkyvka and Ivanivka in Kharkiv region, as well as nearly five attacks near Nadiya in Luhansk region.

On the Lyman front, defensive forces prevented losses of positions near Nevelskiy in Luhansk region.

On the Bakhmut front, Ukrainian soldiers repelled all enemy attacks in the areas of Bogdanivka and Khromovoye. The enemy also unsuccessfully attempted to regain lost positions near Klyshchivka in Donetsk region. Forces defending Ukraine continue offensive actions south of Bakhmut, inflicting losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment, consolidating their gains.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Tavria" on the Avdiyivka front, the enemy does not give up attempts to encircle Avdiyivka, but our soldiers firmly hold the defense, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy. The occupiers' offensive actions in the areas of Novokalynovoye, Stepove and Pervomaiskoye in Donetsk region were unsuccessful.

On the Mariupol front, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations with air support in the areas of Mariinka and Novomikhailivka in Donetsk region. Here our defenders repelled nearly 20 attacks by the enemy.

On the Shakhtarsk front, Ukrainian soldiers repelled attacks by aggressors in the areas of Zolotoy Nivo, Staromajorskoye and Rivnopole in Donetsk region.

On the Zaporizhzhia front, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations near the populated area of Poltavka in Zaporizhzhia region. The enemy also unsuccessfully attempted to regain lost positions near Robotino in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Odessa" on the Kherson front, defensive forces conduct counter-battery fire, inflicting artillery damage on enemy rear areas.

Over the past day, aviation of the Defensive Forces carried out eight strikes against areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, and four — against air defense missile systems of the enemy.

Subunits of rocket troops inflicted damage on command posts, ammunition depots, three areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, and a station of REB of the enemy.

Estimated losses of the enemy over the past day amounted to: 790 occupiers, 16 tanks, 55 armored combat vehicles, five artillery systems, four UAVs of operational-tactical level, 21 vehicles and five units of special equipment.
