The Ukrainian women's national team played two initial matches in the newly formed Nations League, conceding to Serbia and Poland in their group with the same score — 1:2.
The caretaker coach of our team, Volodymyr Pyatenko, shared his impressions from these encounters on the official website of the UAF:
“Regarding commitment to the cause, there is no doubt. They were motivated, eager to showcase their best qualities. However, unlike our opponents, we often struggled with execution in the final stages of attacks. Perhaps this is due to a lack of chemistry, as we had to play these matches without some key players…
“Currently, the Ukrainian women's national team holds third place in their group, but your task is to qualify for League A…”
“For now, I am not focusing on the league table. The girls' goal is to win every match and improve their standing. Despite the poor start, there's still a chance."
“Will there be any rotation before the October matches against Greece?”
“Yes, I plan to invite three or four newcomers. We will finalize this by October 10."
“Both encounters with the Greek team at the end of October will take place on their home ground. Does this have any significance for your players?”
“I don't think so. I am very satisfied with the microclimate in the squad, to reiterate, there are only some issues with chemistry, but these can be resolved. The fact that we will play two matches in Greece will help us gel and aim higher."

How will the matches in groups be played?
All group stage matches will be played according to the usual format — home and away against each opponent in the group. Three points will be awarded for a win, one point for a draw, and no points for a loss.
Who will drop out? Who will play in promotion/relegation matches?
League A
The top two teams in each group remain in League A for the European qualification of the 2025 Women's Euro.
Four teams that finish third will play promotion/relegation matches against second-placed teams from League B. Winners will stay in League A; losers will drop to League B.
Teams finishing fourth will be relegated to League B.
League B
Four group winners advance to League A.
Four teams that finish second will play promotion/relegation matches against third-placed teams from League A. Winners will stay in League A; losers will drop to League B.
Three best teams finishing third will play promotion/relegation matches against three best teams finishing second in League C. Winners will remain in League B for the European qualification; losers will drop to League C.
The team with the lowest ranking among those finishing third and four teams that finish fourth will be relegated to League C.
League C
Five group winners advance to League B.
Three best teams finishing second will play promotion/relegation matches against three best teams finishing third in League B. Winners will remain in League B for the European qualification; losers will drop to League C.
Other teams will stay in League C.
Matches for promotion/relegation
Pairs are drawn by lot, and matches are played home and away. Teams finishing third in their groups are seeded and play the return leg at home.
