To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 10:00 on September 23, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The seventeenth day of the large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has begun.

Russian occupiers continue to ignore international humanitarian law, not only targeting Ukrainian positions but also civilian infrastructure. For example, yesterday, the Russian Federation attacked Ukraine with six Shahed-136/131 strike drones, two of which were destroyed by Ukraine's air defense systems. Additionally, a rocket attack on the city of Kremenchuk resulted in over 30 casualties, including three children. Also, due to a cynical missile strike, civilians in Yurkivka, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, suffered. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.

Last night, the occupiers attacked Ukraine with 15 kamikaze drones of the Shahed-136/131 type. Air defense units destroyed 14 enemy strike drones.

Ukrainian defensive forces continue to conduct defensive operations in eastern and southern Ukraine, offensive operations on the Melitopol direction, and offensive actions on the Bakhmut direction, destroying the enemy step by step, liberating temporarily occupied territories, and consolidating their positions.

Last night there were over 30 combat engagements. The enemy carried out five missile strikes and 49 air attacks, conducted 24 artillery barrages both on our positions and civilian objects of the state.

Air attacks hit Bogoliuvka in Kharkiv Oblast; Nadia, Makarivka, Nevske, Bihorivka in Luhansk Oblast; Bohdanivka, Klyshchivka, Pivnichne, Avdiivka, Krasnyhorivka, Mariinka, Vodiane, Volodydarivka, Staromajorske in Donetsk Oblast; Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia Oblast; Kozatske, Mykolaivka, Odradokamianka, Tyagynka, Antonivka in Kherson Oblast.

More than 120 populated areas in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions came under artillery fire.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "North" on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky directions the enemy maintains military presence in border areas. Conducts active sabotage activities in border areas to prevent our troops from redeploying to threatening directions, increases mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Hortytsia" on the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled enemy attacks around Minkivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Hryhorivka in Donetsk Oblast. The enemy attempted to regain lost positions near Andriyivka in Donetsk Oblast but was unsuccessful. Defensive forces continue offensive actions south of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast, inflicting losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment, consolidating their positions.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Tavria" on the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian soldiers successfully repelled enemy attacks around Avdiivka and Severnyy in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Mariupol direction the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions around Mariinka and Krasnyhorivka in Donetsk Oblast, where he made 12 failed attempts to drive our units from occupied positions over the past day.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction, attacks by the enemy around Robotino and Verbovyy in Zaporizhzhia Oblast ended for him with significant losses both in manpower and equipment. Our defenders continue to hold their positions, inflicting losses on occupying forces.

On the Melitopol direction, defensive forces continue offensive operations, inflicting heavy losses on occupying forces in manpower and equipment, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line and forcing them to retreat from occupied positions.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM "Odessa" on the Kherson direction, defensive forces continue counter-battery warfare, destroying supply depots and successfully targeting the rear of the enemy.

During the past day, aviation of the Armed Forces inflicted a strike on the command post of the Black Sea Fleet in temporarily occupied Sevastopol, 12 strikes on areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, and four — on air defense missile systems of the enemy.

Subunits of rocket troops destroyed two air defense missile systems and four artillery units of the enemy.

Estimated losses of the enemy over the past day amounted to: 510 occupiers, 11 tanks, 21 armored combat vehicles, 33 artillery systems, four MLRS, two air defense systems, eight tactical drones, one cruise missile and 26 vehicles.
