To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on August 25, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The four hundred and eighty-fifth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against our state has begun.

The forces of the Ukrainian defense continue to conduct offensive operations on the Bakhmut and Melitopol directions.

On the Novodanylivka — Novoprokopyvka and Mala Tokmachka — Ocheretivate fronts, there has been some success, they are consolidating on the achieved lines, delivering artillery fire on identified targets of the enemy, conducting counter-battery measures.

On the Bakhmut direction, the forces of defense continue to conduct offensive actions south of the city of Bakhmut and consolidate on the achieved lines.

During the night of August 25, the enemy launched a missile attack against Ukraine from aircraft based in the Black Sea and small missile ships in the Azov Sea.

Two guided air-launched missiles X-59 were fired from Russian Su-34 aircraft over the Black Sea and two cruise missiles «Kalibr» were launched by a small missile ship from the Azov Sea. Also, one strike drone of type «Shahed» was launched from the direction of Primorskaya-Ahtarskaya.

All five targets were destroyed by air forces and means. The missiles were in the Odessa region, the drone was in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

During the past day, the enemy carried out seven missile strikes and 47 aviation attacks, conducted 69 shelling with multiple rocket launchers on our positions and populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there were casualties among civilians. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.

The likelihood of missile and aviation strikes across the territory of Ukraine remains high.

During the past day, 35 combat engagements took place.

On the Volyn and Poltava directions, the operational situation — no significant changes.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Bobilivka and Volfino, Sumy region. Conducted mortar and artillery shelling over 25 populated areas. This includes Khrynyvka, Turia, Blizhnya, Yanzhulivka, Mykolaivka, Haid Chernihiv region; Obiednane, Khodine, Ugroidi, Novodmytrivka, Popivka Sumy region and Chervona Zorya, Strilechya, Gatsiche, Mala Vovcha, Topoli Kharkiv region.

On the Kupyansk direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Novoyegorivka Luhansk region. Carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Orelyansky Kharkiv region and Nadia, Tverdokhlibove Luhansk region. Artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy were suffered by populated points Dvorichna, Synykhivka, Ivanivka, Kislivka, Berestove Kharkiv region.

On the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Spirne, Rozdolovky, Veselye Donetsk region. Artillery and mortar shelling by the enemy were suffered by populated points Nevske, Bihorivka Luhansk region and Spirene, Rozdolovka Donetsk region.

On the Bakhmut direction, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Ivanivske, Klyshchyvky and White Hill Donetsk region. Over 10 populated points suffered from enemy artillery shelling, among them — Vasyukivka, Minkivka, Markove, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Klyshchyvky Donetsk region.

On the Avdiyivka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area south of Avdiyivka Donetsk region. Artillery shelling was suffered by over 10 populated points, among them — Keramik, Berdychi, Vodyane, Karlivka, Netaylove, Nevelske Donetsk region.

On the Mariupol direction, the forces of defense continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the areas northeast of Novomykhailivka and Mariupol Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an aviation strike in the area of Krasnogorivka Donetsk region. Artillery shelling was suffered by populated points Zelanyne Pere, Oleksandropil, Pobeda, Katerynovka, Yelysavetivka, Illinka Donetsk region.

On the Shakhtarsk direction, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Blagodatny and Staromayorskoye Donetsk region. Over 10 populated points suffered from enemy artillery shelling, among them — Maximivka, Shakhterske, Velyka Novosilka, Urozhaye, Staromayorskoye, Vilne Pole Donetsk region.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Levadnyy, Mala Tokmachka, Robotino and Orivohovo Zaporizhzhia region. Over 20 populated points suffered from artillery shelling by the enemy, among them — Levadne, Hulyaypole, Bihorija, Mala Tokmachka, Stepeve, Plavni Zaporizhzhia region.

On the Kherson direction, the enemy carried out aviation strikes in the areas of Tyagynky and Naddnipryansky Kherson region. Over 20 populated points suffered from artillery shelling by the enemy, among them — Lvov, Kherson, Komishany, Bilyozerk, Kizomys, Posad-Pokrovskoye Kherson region and Ochakiv Mykolaiv region.

In temporarily occupied Novaya Kakhovka, Velyki Kopani, Skadovska and Goloi Pristan on the Khersonshchina, Russian occupiers force local Ukrainians to obtain Russian passports ahead of so-called «elections». Those who do not receive passports by September 1 are threatened with confiscation of property. 

Also, on August 22, the invaders brought a large amount of propaganda print products and ballots for pseudo-elections on September 10, 2023 to temporarily occupied Skadovska Kherson region.

Russian occupiers are actively conducting preparations for these pseudo-elections and forming election commissions. Russian FSB agents in the occupied territories are checking candidates for membership of election committees. In addition, Russian occupiers and representatives of so-called occupation administrations spread information among local residents that apparently «an agreement has been reached at the highest level between Ukraine, Western partners and Russia to leave temporarily occupied territories in Kherson region under Russian occupation». With such lies, occupiers are trying to force Ukrainians on occupied territories to come to the so-called «elections».

In one of the temporarily occupied populated points in Zaporizhzhia region, the local occupation authorities have studied and taken into account the negative experience of organizing Russian pseudo-referendums. It is planned to hold so-called «elections» on September 10 in a mixed format. First, “demonstrative-vivid voting at polling stations,” and then — forced house-to-house visits. House-to-house visits are scheduled to start early. Starting from August 30 of this year, representatives of the occupation authorities will begin house-to-house visits for collecting votes. In addition, individuals who are brought in from Russian territory and housed in abandoned homes of local residents appear in this region. This fact is related to the preparation of vote falsification and creating a necessary picture for Russian media. Also, pressure on the local population with demands to obtain Russian passports is increasing. Specifically, it is required that payment for communal services, Internet, and mobile phone cannot be made without Russian citizenship. To increase pressure on the local population in temporarily occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia region, the number of Chechen terrorists has increased, who behave very aggressively and severely punish residents for violating curfew.

The aviation of the Defense Forces carried out one strike against a command post, 13 strikes against areas with personnel concentration and three — against air defense missile systems of the enemy during the past day.

Subdivisions of rocket troops and artillery inflicted two command posts, two areas with personnel concentration, weapons and military equipment, five artillery means on firing positions, one anti-aircraft weapon, one ammunition depot and one radio-electronic warfare station of the enemy during the past day.

Estimated losses of Russian invaders over the past day: 470 occupiers, three tanks, ten armored combat vehicles, twenty-eight artillery systems, one multiple rocket launcher system, one anti-aircraft weapon, twelve tactical drones, three cruise missiles, seventeen vehicles and one unit of special equipment.
