"Dnipro-1" started their European campaign in the Champions League, where they failed against Greek Panathinaikos. So, the black-and-yellow team moved to the Europa League, where in the third qualifying round they faced Czech Slavia, who are the vice-champions of their country. The first match took place in Prague.

The first half was dominated by the home team's total advantage. Slavia quickly went ahead — Šranc scored after Masopust's cross from the right flank. The Czechs continued to press Kinearikin, who saved a shot from Lingr in the 36th minute. However, just moments later, Šranc completed his brace.

Slavia also started the second half aggressively and even scored again, but the referee disallowed Jurčík's goal for offside. In the 58th minute, the home team went down to ten men after Ogbu committed a rough foul from the side, but the Ukrainians did not take advantage of this situation.

Moreover, with ten players, Czechs managed to score their third goal — shortly after Vallem came on as a substitute during a set piece. Only then did the visitors respond with an inaccurate attempt from Lednev and a header by Kivinda that went wide. In summary, Slavia won 3-0.
