The House of Football of the Ukrainian Association of Sports Journalists held an award ceremony for the best athletes of the country in 2021 and 2022. The ceremony was attended by Ukraine's Minister of Youth and Sport, President of the NOC of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit, and First Vice-President of the UAF Oleksiy Mykhaylichenko.

"Despite the large-scale war initiated by an aggressor country, which prevented us from holding our traditional annual ceremony to honor the best athletes and journalists of 2021 back in March, we still believe that our sports heroes deserve recognition. They proudly carry our Ukrainian flag around the world," — said President of the UASJ Oleksandr Hlyvinsky.

Oleksiy Mykhaylichenko, an Olympic champion in football from 1988, presented the award for best athlete of 2021 to wrestler Zhan Belenюk, who was the only Ukrainian Olympic champion at the Tokyo Summer Games.

We add that freestyle skier Oleksandr Abramenko was named the best athlete of 2022, while canoeist Lyudmila Luzan (2021) and high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh (2022) were awarded in women's categories.
