Anatoliy Demyanenko: "Such trials will only make us stronger! Everything will be fine, Ukraine will prevail!"
First vice-president of the UAF Anatoliy Demyanenko commented on the Lviv court's decision to arrest Andriy Pavelka.
"It's hard to call the arrest of the head of Ukrainian football anything other than a kangaroo court and lawlessness. The case has been dragging on for years, with no expert opinions even being issued. There is an anti-corruption agency conclusion stating Pavelka’s innocence. So, to understand what is really happening here, one only needs to use simple logic. A court in Kyiv has been considering the case for almost eight months and sees no legal grounds for such a preventive measure as arrest. But once the documents are transferred to Lviv—the arrest appears the very next day. At the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion into Ukraine, Russian invaders dreamed of bringing back Yanukovych’s criminal regime here. Fortunately, they failed, but it seems that something did succeed—bringing back judicial lawlessness," — Anatoliy Demianenko noted.
According to him, Oleg Blokhin, Ihor Belanov, Ruslan Rotan, Kateryna Monzul, Oleh Protasov, Dmytro Kubryak, and the head of BF "Heroes' Tribune" Tikhon Amosov were ready to act as guarantors for Andriy Pavelka.
"But the judge did not even give us the right to speak. She was completely indifferent to hearing our thoughts, positions, and guarantees," — Demianenko added.
He recalled that last year, when the UAF was just beginning to restore the Ukrainian championship, everyone—security forces, soldiers on the front line, numerous foreign journalists who came and marveled at how football could even be thought of during a war—was seized with decisiveness and dedication for football.
"And as soon as we managed to successfully complete the competitions, which few believed possible, the court issued an arrest warrant for two months against the initiator of restoring football life in the country. And this is a public figure who daily works at the House of Football, has not fled abroad like some deputies and officials, and helps soldiers every day along with the entire football community."
I believe that President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom I have met several times at various football events, should pay attention to this screaming situation. As a guarantor of the Constitution and citizens' rights in Ukraine. The only thing I am sure of is that this test will make us stronger! And everything will be fine. Ukraine will win," — Anatoliy Demianenko concluded.
