U-21: Ukraine's youth national team drew with Ireland in a friendly match
Today, on June 16, the Ukrainian U-21 national team, which is preparing for the final tournament of Euro-2023 (U-21), played a friendly match against their Irish counterparts. As a reminder, the blue-and-yellow team has been training in Austria since June 7. On the 13th, they played a friendly match against Kuwait's U-23 team and won—2:0.

Today, June 16, the Ukrainian U-21 national team, which is preparing for the Euro 2023 finals (U-21), played a friendly match against their Irish counterparts.
As a reminder, since June 7, the blue and yellow team has been training in Austria. On the 13th, they played a friendly match against Kuwait's U-23 team, which they won — 2:0. Today, under Rostan Rotan’s guidance, the Ukrainian youth squad faced off with their Irish counterparts.
Yesterday, on June 15, the official roster for Ukraine's U-21 team was released for Euro 2023 (U-21), including 23 players, some of whom are currently in training with the national squad. Today, Rostan Rotan’s wards conducted their final rehearsal before the continental tournament by playing against Ireland's youth team. This is a fairly strong team that finished second in its qualifying group after Italy and only lost to Israel on penalties in the play-offs.

At the 17th minute, Ukrainians took the lead — Bondarenko scored a penalty kick earned by Kashchuk. However, in injury time at the end of the first half, the Irish equalized. On the 73rd minute, Sikhan successfully executed another penalty kick he had won himself. Nevertheless, the islanders managed to level the score again. Thus, the friendly match ended in a draw — 2:2.

In total, at Euro 2023 (U-21), which will take place from June 21 to July 8 in Georgia and Romania, sixteen teams will participate. According to the draw results held on October 18 last year in Bucharest, blue and yellow will be placed in Group B where they will face Romania, Spain, and Croatia. The top three teams at Euro 2023 (excluding France and England) will receive spots at the 2024 Olympics.
