Ukraine is not conducting attacks on Russia or its president but is defending its independence and territorial integrity. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during his meeting with representatives of the media following the Ukraine-North Europe summit in Helsinki.

In response to a journalist's question about the recent flyover of drones over the Kremlin in Moscow, Volodymyr Zelensky said: "We are not attacking Putin or Moscow. We are fighting on our own territory and defending our villages and cities."

The head of state added that Ukraine feels a shortage of weapons for its defense, so the Ukrainian army does not use them anywhere else except in combat zones.

"We cannot use anything anywhere. That's why we did not attack Putin. We will leave him to the tribunal," he stated.

Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his conviction that Russia’s leader accuses Ukraine of this supposed attack and assassination attempt because Russia has no victories on the battlefield in its war against Ukraine. Therefore, such statements are used by Russian leadership to justify continued aggression.

"He can no longer motivate his society or simply send soldiers to their death. He cannot motivate his country anymore. There are no victories for him on the battlefield. The second army in the world has lost. They are unable to occupy Ukraine. We have cut them off from us. Now he needs some way to motivate these people to move forward," said the Head of State.

"They have lost this war — they have lost as a country, they have lost historically... That's what is happening. And now he needs to do something drastic — like assassination attempts or drones or we had some geese that bombed them… So they will come up with various steps every day," added Volodymyr Zelensky.

At the same time, the President noted that instead of coming up with new provocations, Russian authorities could simply withdraw their troops from Ukrainian territory and thereby resolve their difficult situation.

"There is no need to scare anyone or use weapons — just leave our territory. Absolutely everyone, even countries outside NATO or the EU on different continents — all recognize Ukraine's territorial integrity. So leaving our territory would be a solution. It’s much simpler than using various information or other manipulations," emphasized the Head of State.

Responding to a question about whether Russia’s statements regarding supposed Ukrainian drone attacks could affect the continuation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, whose current term expires in March, Volodymyr Zelensky noted that he does not see an interest from Russia in extending its operation but there should be interest from other sides.

"We are not looking for Russia's interest; we are looking to fulfill agreements with our partners. Regarding the grain initiative, we have a clear agreement with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and President of Turkey Erdoğan. Our agreements continue. We plan to extend our initiative. They need to talk with the Russian side and agree on extending this corridor that is so important for other countries in the world. As well as for many of us," concluded President Zelensky.
