President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, outlining the principles upon which security and peace will be restored in international relations, as well as the signing of an agreement for joint investigation of Russian war crimes and genocide.
"I wish health to all dear Ukrainians!
Today I spoke with President Macron of France. The conversation lasted almost one and a half hours, covering all key security issues that are on the agenda for us in Ukraine, as well as generally in Europe.
We discussed our ability to move forward, act, and restore freedom and justice to people in territories currently occupied by Russia.
We also talked about international contacts – both ours and France's. Emmanuel informed me of the details and outcomes of his visit to China. I thank him for clear support for those principled matters that unite our anti-war coalition.
Russia must withdraw from Ukrainian territory, all of it, along with all occupiers. Every point in the UN Charter must be reinstated – no Russian violations of international law can be ignored. Security and peace will return to international relations based on these principles. This is precisely what the Ukrainian peace formula is about, which is entirely realistic and specific. We also discussed this thoroughly with Macron today, as well as the international measures we are preparing for this year, including the Vilnius NATO summit.
Our joint position at the summit in Lithuania – among all participating countries – can be ambitious enough to meet European security needs. I am convinced of this. Effective security guarantees for Ukraine, that is, truly for an international order based on rules, are needed even before our NATO accession.
By the way, a meeting of member states of the joint investigative group into crimes committed by occupiers in Ukraine took place in Vilnius. One of the results was an agreement – it was signed yesterday. The agreement is for joint investigation not only of Russian war crimes but also of genocide.
We will ensure full accountability at all levels, including legal, for Russia's actions against Ukraine and Ukrainians. And I thank all partners who are helping to bring justice to the occupiers – Russian killers and terrorists.
In Sloviansk on the Donbas front, a search operation is still underway after yesterday’s Russian missile strike. There is information that under the rubble of buildings – there are still bodies of those who died, unfortunately...
Just this one terrorist attack alone damaged and destroyed over 50 residential buildings, more than 30 of which were multi-story. Injured – over 20 people, as of now – dead already 11. Among them is a very young child – a boy born in 2021. My condolences to relatives, to all who lost loved ones...
No one responsible for this aggression can be forgiven or forgotten.
Today, two more sanction decrees against individuals and companies involved in or aiding this terror were published. Specifically, these are sanctions against those propagating the state of terrorism under the guise of sports. Against those linked to its officials. A separate list includes IT companies sponsoring terror or providing digital means for continuing aggression.
All Ukrainian sanctions are synchronized with global ones – this is an inevitable process. I thank everyone in international institutions and partner states who work together with us, with government officials, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), special services, and our Office.
The sanction pressure on all those responsible for this aggression, blocking their assets and opportunities worldwide – is a self-defense mechanism for the world and already prevents any other possible aggressions.
Restoring peace and its stability has no alternatives.
Thank you to everyone who helps us, Ukraine! Glory to all our soldiers fighting against terrorists!
Let's restore justice as a worthy memory of those whose lives Russia and its terror took...
Glory to Ukraine!"
