April 14-16 will see the online qualification for the FIFAe Nations Cup 2023 World Championship. In the annual competitions in the FIFA discipline, which determine participants of the cyber football world elite, the traditional Ukrainian national team will take part.

We delve deeper into the next stage of the FIFAe Nations Series 2023 and what the Ukrainian team needs to successfully overcome it.

FIFAe Nations Series 2023

The FIFAe Nations Series 2023 takes place in "2 on 2" mode of FIFA 23 on the PlayStation 5 platform.

The competition consists of four stages: a first qualifying round (play-in), a second qualifying round (online qualification), playoffs, and the final stage of the championship.

Play-in took place from December 2022 to March 2023. The Ukrainian team completed all three game weeks of this round for the first time in history, managing to advance to Division 1, but ultimately ended up third in Division 2 of Conference 3.

Online Qualification

In the online qualification within the European zone, 33 national teams will participate, including Ukraine's team. Teams from England, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Israel, Italy, Sweden, and Denmark have already qualified for the playoffs based on their play-in results.

The play-in results also formed the seeding of teams according to the current FIFAe ranking, so Ukraine's team ended up in third out of four pots.

Based on the draw results, our team received a spot in Group B. The opponents of Ukrainian esports players at this tournament stage will be Turkey, Poland, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Latvia, and Serbia.

Matches will take place under a round-robin system "home and away" format BO1. A win will earn 3 points, a draw — 1 point, and a loss — 0 points.

The top four teams in the group will advance to the upper bracket of the playoffs, while fifth and sixth place teams will have a chance to compete in relegation matches in the lower bracket. The two worst-performing teams in the group will conclude their participation in online qualification.

What awaits the Ukrainian team

The Ukrainian team, consisting of Alexander CIG Grishay Gryshay and Andriy CIG ST92 Shakalov, will play 14 group stage matches over two game days.

To qualify for the playoffs, our boys need to secure a place no lower than sixth in the group. Matches in the upper and lower brackets will take place on Sunday, April 16. In total, twelve of the best teams from online qualification advance to the playoffs.

As a reminder, FIFAe Nations Cup 2023 matches will be held May 18-20 with participation of twenty of Europe's strongest teams that successfully overcome previous qualification stages.
