The Donetsk 'Shakhtar' lost to the Dutch 'Feyenoord' in the Europa League round of 16 reply match and concluded their European campaign.
A week ago, the miners played a night game against Feyenoord in Warsaw — 1:1. Now, Igor Jovićević's men hosted the reply match in Rotterdam. It is worth noting that among Shakhtar's starters were Konoplia, Bondar, and Mykhailichenko, who had been suspended.
From the start of the game, the hosts took control and scored on the 9th minute. Feyenoord won possession in midfield; Jiménez outmaneuvered Bondar and beat Trubin. The Dutch team continued to press, with Trubin making several saves for Shakhtar. However, at the 24-minute mark, Arne Slot's men doubled their lead thanks to a goal from Kekçu from outside the penalty area.
Shakhtar responded with a powerful long-range shot by Sudakov that was deflected away by the crossbar. However, on the 38th minute, the hosts scored again — Kekçu converted a penalty awarded for Konoplia's handball to score his second of the match. Later, Trubin also saved another dangerous shot from Jaghabachsh. Traoré missed an opportunity with a one-on-one against the goalkeeper but was flagged offside by the referee. Shortly after, Jaghabachsh's long-range effort almost found the back of Trubin's net.

After halftime, Feyenoord scored their fourth goal — Idrissi netted from outside the penalty area into the far corner. He then completed his brace by outmaneuvering Trubin and scoring past him from a tight angle. On the 64th minute, Shakhtar conceded again — Jaghabachsh scored with an accurate shot from distance. The hosts did not stop there and soon Perreira also got on the scoresheet.
On the 87th minute, the visitors finally broke through — Matviyenko's cross was converted by Kelsi in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper. In summary, Shakhtar lost the match 1-7. With this result, both Feyenoord and Ukraine concluded their European season.
In the lineup for Shakhtar, players who were called up to the national team by Ruslan Rotan in March's training camp participated: Trubin, Konoplia, Matviyenko (assist), Stepanenko (substituted at 54'), Zubkov (substituted at 63'), Sudakov (yellow card), Bondarenko (yellow card, substituted at 54').
