President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, informing about an expanded meeting of the General Staff with reports from our commanders on the front lines and about a bestial shelling of Kherson by the Russian army.

"I wish health to all dear Ukrainians!

Today's day began with an expanded and detailed meeting of the General Staff — including reports from our commanders on the front lines at the hottest points.

Chief Commander Zaluzhnyi reported on the overall frontline situation and Russian missile strikes against our positions.

Of course, special emotions are evoked by reports about Donetsk and Luhansk. We do everything to repel enemy attacks there — constant intense assaults that Russia does not stop, despite suffering insane losses.

General Syrskyi reported on the Bakhmut and Lyman fronts. Fierce battles. Principled battles. We are doing everything we can to support our boys. General Tarnavskiy reported on the Avdiivka front and others. The occupiers use there a full spectrum of weapons against our boys, including even tear gas grenades.

But it is very important: despite all the pressure on our forces, the frontline has not changed. I thank everyone for this — all our fighters, soldiers and sergeants, officers and generals who defend the respective front lines.

There were reports at the General Staff from other commanders and leaders of our defense and security forces — Neiv, "North," OSUV "Odessa," Moskalov — I listened to their reports. The situation has not changed significantly.

Intelligence — head of GUR MOD Budanov — about the real situation with Russian rhetoric on strategic weapons. External intelligence. Security Service of Ukraine. Internal Affairs Forces and National Guard, border service. Minister of Defense. Other representatives of government.

We are paying full attention to every detail of our defense plan and the enemy's ambitions.

There was also a report by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on the situation in energy and the process of restoring our power system after Russian strikes. I would like to note: we have good news, good results, which is — the achievement of all our energy workers, repairmen, representatives of central and local authorities who carried out their tasks. On most of Ukraine's territory, we are meeting people's and enterprises' energy needs.

We continue our diplomatic marathon to strengthen Ukrainian warriors and our entire state. Met today with the Italian delegation headed by Prime Minister Ms. Giorgia Meloni.

Italy firmly and strongly supports us in the fight for independence. There is a new package of military support, which includes, among other things, air defense systems. Italy is ready to cooperate with us to implement the peace formula. And this, in particular, such an important point as justice — that is, a tribunal for the aggressor, compensation mechanism for Ukraine. We discussed today also new sanctions against Russia.

I am grateful to all Italians for their historic support of Ukraine on its way to the European Union. When we were gaining candidate status, Italy's position gave an important impulse to the position of the entire EU. This year, I believe, we will achieve even more progress and do everything to start negotiations about our membership.

Today also met with a delegation from the US Congress. This is a very important signal for our country, the whole region, and the world. Yesterday — President Biden in Kyiv. Today — representatives of Congress, namely members of the Republican Party.

Our cooperation with America does not stop even for a day or minute. We together effectively strengthen global security. And, by the way, confused complaints from Moscow are just an extra proof of our effectiveness — Ukraine, United States and all free world.

One more thing.

The Russian army today once again bestially shelled Kherson. There are wounded, there are dead. My condolences to everyone who has lost loved ones...

This Russian shelling had no and could not have any military goal. Like thousands of similar Russian shellings that are the real message Russia sends to the world. A state-terrorist using missile strikes on city streets, residential buildings, schools, pharmacies and hospitals, churches, bus stops, markets, power plants tries to tell the world that terror should be taken seriously.

I am confident that we will put a terrorist state in its place. All together — Ukrainians and the world.

Our army, our intelligence, our security service and other Ukrainian forces will find and destroy those who inflict these brutal strikes on Kherson, on other of our cities and regions. And more broadly — we will show that only humanity should be taken seriously, only the UN Charter and only the right of every nation to live freely and protected from terror and such insane aggressions as Russian.

I thank everyone who is defending our state! I thank everyone who fights for Ukraine on the front lines now, who holds our borders, who guards our sky, sea, who produces and supplies equipment and ammunition for our warriors and who ensures us with high-quality intelligence information!
