President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, informing about the EU's readiness to support our country with electricity supply and about the resolution of consequences of an energy accident in Odesa region.

"I wish good health, dear Ukrainians!

Today, there is another sanction step taken by our state against the state-terrorist. The decision of the National Security and Defense Council regarding sanctions against Russia's nuclear industry has come into effect. This will not be the last decision concerning this sector of theirs. The sense of our steps also lies in supporting our diplomats' efforts to expand global sanctions on this part of Russia's aggression machine.

Russia is the only country in the world that allows its military forces to shell nuclear plants and use AES as cover for shelling. Russian rockets have repeatedly followed trajectories over Ukraine’s nuclear objects. Also, the state-terrorist uses the nuclear industry as one of the elements of external expansion. For exerting pressure on other countries. To create corresponding threats to sovereignty of other states.

All this is sufficient reason for Russia's nuclear sector to be under global sanctions too. We are working on it with our partners.

We also continue the diplomatic marathon to prevent the Kremlin from using world sports and Olympic movement for its propaganda. Representatives of the state-terrorist have no place at the Olympics and international tournaments.

Ukraine has sent corresponding letters to companies that support the International Olympic Committee most. These are large international companies, which definitely care about their reputation not being used in favor of war propaganda.

Our preparation for next week's events is already underway—it may turn out quite significant. We are preparing decisions and negotiations aimed at strengthening our warriors, giving Ukraine more international support, more weapons. Both public and private formats of work are planned.

I would like to thank separately those involved in the resolution of consequences of an energy accident in Odesa region now. Restoration works continue around-the-clock. As of now, hundreds of thousands of people in the Odesa region are without electricity supply.

And, of course, such problems with electricity on the Odessa and other regions of our country could not have been possible under Russian terror. Right now, extraordinary efforts are needed to ensure normal operation of the energy system.

Thank you to all energy workers, repairmen, officials—everyone who works to restore normal technical capabilities for electricity supply and to preserve our generation.

By the way, according to this week's results, we have some important agreements with partners on energy. In particular, the EU is ready to support Ukraine with electricity supply. Thank you to partners for that. We are expanding cooperation in supplying energy equipment as well. Also, we have extremely successful examples of energy-saving initiatives.

For example, people already received their first million LED lamps in exchange for power-consuming incandescent bulbs over just one week. More than 800 thousand applications under this program are already on "Diia", that is, it's extremely convenient.

When we fully implement the program—30 million LED lamps—it will give a noticeable consumption saving. I thank President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, for supporting this initiative.

By the way about the front.

There are already many reports that occupiers want to do something symbolic in February. Try to make up for their previous losses. We see increased pressure on various fronts, as well as informational pressure.

It is very difficult in Donetsk—intense battles. But no matter how hard it was and whatever the pressure, we must hold out. We are using and will use every day and week to strengthen our defense at the front, to strengthen our international positions, to increase pressure on Russia and give our people new opportunities to get through this tough time.

We have no other alternative but to defend ourselves and win.

I thank everyone who is focused on strengthening the state!

Thank you all who fight for Ukraine!

Thank you all who help our country!

Glory to Ukraine!"
