The match ended in a draw – 1:1. The half-backs Maxim Kucheravy from Scottish "St. Johnstone" and Mykola Mikhaylenko from Lugansk "Zorya" shared their impressions.
“It's hard to imagine a better debut. If we hadn't conceded at the end, everything would have been perfect. I haven't played much for the club lately, so it was great to get on the field. I gave my all out there and it's good that I managed to score. I'm not sure who the ball bounced off of, but it seems like Maxim Taloviyev, and I managed to direct it into the goal.
I think this result is quite fair. We played in a disadvantageous position for the last stretch and started to tire towards the end. Despite that, we tried to control the ball, play through short and medium passes rather than just defend. This was still a training camp, and our team is 80% new. We're getting used to the coaching principles and trying to follow them.
We specifically prepared for this match against Israel, and the coaching staff did great work. They showed us both the strong and weak points of the opponent, and we tried to fulfill our tasks accordingly. There were some mistakes, but I believe we managed to do that”, — said Maxim Kucheravy.
“I think it was a great game, and the coaches praised us. All the boys — well done. Maybe we got unlucky with the yellow card. But that happens, so it's good that we held on until the final whistle and kept this score.
On the field in such matches, we generally don't think about the result. Our coaches tell us to enjoy playing. Well, somewhere we made a mistake, somewhere played not as confidently as needed, which led to a penalty. But I don't see anything scary in that. We'll just try not to make such mistakes going forward. We have another friendly match on Monday, and I've never played with this schedule before. So I'm not sure if it's hard or easy. Whatever it is, we will prepare, recover. We'll start analyzing the opponent. Georgia — a strong team that plays interesting football, so it will be an excellent challenge”, — noted Mykola Mikhaylenko.
We remind you that on November 21, our team will face the Georgian youth national team. The match will take place at Tengiz Burjanadze Stadium in Gori, which is 60 km from the capital of Georgia (kickoff — 4 PM Kyiv time).
