Note to your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on October 17, 2022 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The two hundred and sixty-sixth day of heroic resistance against Russia's large-scale invasion has begun.

The enemy is attempting to hold onto temporarily occupied territories, concentrating efforts on attempts to slow down the actions of the Defense Forces along certain axes, while also trying to conduct offensive operations in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka directions.

The adversary is shelling our positions along the entire line of contact, carrying out engineering equipment of defensive positions and lines on certain axes, and conducting aerial reconnaissance. In violation of international humanitarian law, laws, and customs of war, it is striking critical infrastructure and civilian housing.

During the past day, the enemy carried out two missile strikes and 26 air raids, conducted over 80 artillery attacks with multiple rocket launchers.

The areas of more than 20 populated places were hit by the enemy's attacks. Among these are Bilopillya in Sumy region, Sloviansk, Pavlivka and Novosilka in Donetsk region, Mariupol in Dnipropetrovsk region, Pervomaiske and Bihorodka in Kherson region. The enemy attacked Mykolaiv with 15 kamikaze drones, of which our defenders shot down 11.

On the Volynian, Polissian, and Northern directions, the situation remains unchanged significantly. There is a threat of missile and air strikes, as well as the use of Shahed-136 attack drones from Belarus territory.

On other axes, the enemy carried out shelling:

on the Slobozhansky direction — with mortars, artillery and multiple rocket launchers in the areas of populated places Veterinarnoe, Vishka Yaruga, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutori, Gatishche, Dvoriche, Zeleno, Kozacha Lopan', Krasnoe and Ogirevskoye in Kharkiv region;

on the Kramatorsky direction — with tanks, artillery and multiple rocket launchers in the areas of populated places Berestove, Petro-Pavlivka, Pereshchepine in Kharkiv region; Grekivka and Novoyegorivka in Luhansk region; Zaryche, Terny, Tor'ske and Yamopol'ivka in Donetsk region;

on the Bakhmutsky direction — with tanks and multiple rocket launchers in the areas of populated places Andriyivka, Bakhmut, Bakhmutskoye, Belogorovka, Veseloe, Opitne, Sverdlovsk and Yakovlivka in Donetsk region;

on the Avdiivsky direction — with tanks, artillery and multiple rocket launchers in the areas of populated places Berdyche, Vodyane, Krasnogorivka, Mariinka, Nevel'skoye, Novomikhailivka and Pervomaiske in Donetsk region.

On the Novopavlivsky and Zaporizhzhia directions, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations. Conducted artillery strikes of various types in the areas of populated places Bogoyavlensk, Velyka Novosilka, Volodymyrivka, Ugledar and Paraskoviyivka in Donetsk region.

On the Southern Bug direction, fire damage was sustained by the areas of more than 25 populated places along the line of contact. Among these are Nikopol and Novokamyanka in Dnipropetrovsk region, Ternevo Podi, Partizanskoye, Shirokoye in Mykolayiv region and Miren on Kherson territory.

Occupants are trying to replenish their losses in manpower by mass mobilization of men from temporarily occupied territories. Thus, according to available information, in the City of Luhansk in Luhansk region, communal service workers were forcibly placed on military duty under Russian law and underwent so-called medical examination. As a result, all were found fit for military service.

Confirmed casualties among enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment over the previous days. As a result of precise strikes by the Defense Forces, the enemy sustained losses in the areas of populated places in Zaporizhzhia region: Molochansk — up to 40 wounded, Kam'yanka-Dniprovskaya — five units of weapons and military equipment and about 25 wounded, Enerhodar — up to 20 wounded, Orikhiv and Hulyaypole — up to five units of weapons and military equipment and up to 50 wounded, Pologi — about seven units of military equipment and up to 30 wounded. Information is being verified.

During the past day, subdivisions of the Defense Forces repelled attacks by occupiers in the areas of populated places Tor'ske, Spirene, Sverdlovsk, Bakhmut, Mayorivka, Vodyane, Krasnogorivka, Mariinka and Novomikhailivka in Donetsk region.

The aviation of the Defense Forces carried out over 30 strikes during the past day. Confirmed damage to 25 areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment, as well as six positions of anti-aircraft missile systems of the enemy. Our air defense units also shot down 15 enemy drones.

Rocket forces and artillery over the past day damaged two command points, one position of anti-aircraft defense and one ammunition depot.
