Qualifying tournament for the Women's World Cup 2023. European zone

Group stage

Europe has eleven direct spots to the 2023 World Cup, and one team will participate in the intercontinental play-off.

The nine group winners will advance directly to the World Cup. The second-placed teams from each group will continue their competition at the next stage.

Play-offs

Nine teams that finish in second place in their groups will participate in a play-off, which consists of two stages.

The top three among the second-placed teams will have an opportunity to compete directly at the second stage of the play-offs. Six participants from the first round will compete for three spots in one-legged matches. The three winners of the first round and the three teams that advanced directly to the second stage will determine the trio of UEFA Women's Play-off winners in two-legged ties.

The top two winners of the UEFA Women's Play-off second stage (based on criteria applied to group stage results plus play-off second-round results) will earn automatic spots at the World Cup, while the third-place winner will proceed to the intercontinental play-offs.
