President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about how our diplomats continue daily efforts to ensure safety for Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZAPORIZHIA ATOMNAYA STANCIYA).
"Good evening, citizens of Ukraine,
Europeans!
Our nuclear power plant workers and all energy sector professionals are successfully protecting the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant from the worst-case scenarios constantly provoked by Russian forces. Currently, the station has been brought back online. Congratulations. It is producing electricity for Ukraine.
I want to emphasize that the situation remains very risky and dangerous. Any repetition of yesterday's events, such as another disconnection of the plant from the grid, any actions by Russia that could provoke reactor shutdowns, once again put the station one step away from catastrophe.
Therefore, it is crucial for the IAEA mission to arrive at the site as soon as possible and help keep the nuclear power plant under Ukrainian control in a permanent mode. Therefore, it is important that Russian troops withdraw from the plant and surrounding areas and eliminate the threat of shelling the station or its transmission lines.
Ukrainian diplomats and our partners continue daily efforts to ensure safety for ZAPORIZHIA ATOMNAYA STANCIYA. And today I want to thank everyone who mobilized the world's reaction to Russian radiation blackmail. To all of our nuclear workers - you are great! To all of our energy sector professionals - you are strong, whose professionalism literally saves Ukraine and Europe as they overcome the consequences of Russian terror at the station!
Today we can make some initial conclusions about saving many countries, many peoples from a food crisis that Russia wanted to escalate into real famine. For almost a month now, the export grain initiative has been working, and during this time, from our three sea ports - Chornomorsk, Odessa, and Mykolaiv - we exported one million tons of agricultural products since February 24th. This is a victory.
This means in practice that Ukrainian grain and the fact that the Ukrainian supply route to the global food market has been restored allow us to avoid chaos on the market, reduce the sharpness of the food crisis, and prevent a catastrophic shortage. Ukraine was, is, and will be among the guarantors of global food security.
By the way, 44 ships with Ukrainian agricultural products have already been sent to 15 countries around the world, we have another 70 requests for ship arrivals for loading. The goal is to reach three million tons of monthly exports by sea. And this is extremely important for Africa, Asia and Europe.
It's also important that in our society everyone realizes: this export not only supports Ukraine's international status but also provides jobs for our citizens - hundreds of thousands of job opportunities, income for Ukrainian companies, to our budget, and most importantly, funds for sowing next year.
I still remember the joy of port workers in Odessa when they didn't just hear about it, but actually saw that the port was back at work. This is truly a significant result for Ukraine, for the Chornomorsk region and for the entire world.
And I am grateful to everyone who joined this effort, this initiative. I emphasize that this is a full responsibility of partners - not to allow any Russian provocations or disruption of exports.
We continue mobilizing informational support for Ukraine. Now it's the time to look for even more non-standard channels to spread the truth about Russia's war against us, our independence, and the needs of our state. We constantly find new information friends - real friends, partners in defending freedom and fighting Russian disinformation.
Yes, today I spoke with Jimmy Fallon - a very well-known American TV host and actor - about ways to draw attention to Ukraine, how to deliver the truth to the United States, to people. How can we help Ukraine even more - this was his main question. The question of how to win in this information war against Russian Federation lies.
The situation on the front lines remains unchanged these days. Our soldiers are doing everything possible to reduce the enemy's fire and logistical potential. I think you all see the corresponding news - about destroying enemy bases, their supplies, those river crossings they use.
And the more successful we are in this - our intelligence, our army, Security Service of Ukraine - the sooner we will be able to change the frontline situation in our favor. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, all of our people prove every day to Russian occupiers that they have no and never will have a chance to survive on Ukrainian soil. There will come a day when the occupiers will admit this. Or there simply won't be any left.
Eternal glory to you, defenders of our state!
Eternal glory to our strong, unbreakable, wise and beautiful people!
Glory to Ukraine!"
