President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation, speaking about the most important national task and the necessity to further advance Ukrainian positions on the front lines and in diplomacy.

"I wish you good health, dear Ukrainians!

Tomorrow marks an important week — a symbolic one. The first time we will celebrate Independence Day on July 28th.

We will mark it during such a harsh war — in its sixth month. After eight years of war in Donbas. But we will still celebrate. Despite everything. Because Ukrainians cannot be broken.

Independence Day will affirm the connection between those who live now and many generations of our people. Over a thousand years of state-building experience, our culture, our self-awareness, Ukrainian character.

Now, in the feats of our soldiers, in the wisdom of our people in battle, even just in ordinary conversations with Ukrainians about what is happening, we can see, hear and understand examples of such characters, but from centuries ago. We can see examples of such courage, such attitude towards life — and most importantly, towards Ukraine and the enemy.

Only those who are completely ignorant of the truth of history and do not feel its meaning could decide to attack us after everything our people have gone through over centuries. Ukrainians will never give up their independence. And they won't break from within, as it has happened before. Not this time!

Preserving unity now, working together for victory — this is the most important national task that we must all fulfill.

Therefore, we will be able to do what previous generations could not accomplish. This applies both to our defense in this war for independence and to our movement towards a united Europe, full membership in the EU, and our ability to become one of the most modern states in the world.

There is no doubt about this now. There are only those who disagree on how to achieve it. This will happen. It's a sign of faith in Ukraine — not just our own faith.

Even the occupiers acknowledge that we will win. We hear this in their conversations — constantly, in what they tell their loved ones when they call them.

So don't relax and, as every day for five months now, do everything to inflict maximum losses on the enemy and gather more support for Ukraine.

This week will see important visits from partners, important negotiations, but most importantly — further advancement of Ukrainian positions. On the front lines, in diplomacy, in the economy.

I am grateful to everyone who is defending our country!

And I wish us all, every Ukrainian, a productive new week.

Glory to Ukraine!"
