The Ukrainian team was designated as the host of a mini-tournament that was scheduled to take place at Lviv's "Bosco-Arena" from March 16-19. However, due to Russia's military invasion, the main round matches were rescheduled for July 7-10 this year. The Moldovan team Chiorescu will host the games.
In their opening match in Group 6, the blue-and-yellow team faced Andorra's under-19s. In the first half, Vitaliy Odegov's wards had a significant advantage in shots on goal. For instance, Britan scored from the penalty spot at the 8th minute. The Andorrans responded with a dangerous shot by Blat, which was saved by Guiwan.
Subsequently, the opposing goalkeeper made several saves, but just before halftime our boys scored three goals. At the 16th minute, after an offside trap, Lutai scored, followed shortly by Dychuk who managed to score a rebound goal, and then Britan capitalized on an Andorran mistake.
At the start of the second half, the opponents managed to score two goals, but at the 24th minute Tkachuk concluded a counterattack with a successful shot and increased Ukraine's lead. Later, captain Blat of Andorra received a yellow card, and Britan was the standout player for our team. Then Smetanenko scored, and Lutai added his second goal.
At the 33rd minute, goalkeeper Pons of Andorra also earned a penalty, and Dychuk scored his second goal in the match. Shortly after, Britan completed a hat-trick following Guiwan's pass. Near the end of the game, Tkachuk added another goal to his tally.
So at the start of the main round qualification for the European Championship, Vitaliy Odegov's wards secured a convincing victory — 10:2. The next match will be against Belgium tomorrow, July 8 (kickoff at 3 PM).
