These competitions became a stage in preparing Ukrainian esports football players for participation in the main round of the FIFAe Nations Cup 2022 qualification, matches of which will take place on May 19.

The Ukrainian team consisting of Andriy CIG_ST92 Shakalov, Yaroslav ECF_BlackStar98 Gurmak and Oleksiy ForlanFS Mercer faced off in esports football matches against teams from Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, and Finland.

The Ukrainian team played two games with each opponent in the "2 on 2" mode of FIFA 22 simulator on PlayStation 5. Moreover, in each match, team manager Oleg Shustenko used different pairs to test the capabilities of the players before official matches.

The Ukrainians started successfully, barely missing six points in their first encounter — against the Czechs. In the opening game, blue-and-yellow lost two points to their opponents, giving up a two-goal deficit on the last seconds of the match — 2:2, but still managed to win the return match — 2:1.

The first defeat for Ukrainian esports football players came in a match against Finland's team, where they, playing at a disadvantage, conceded with a score of 1:2. The rematch with Suomi ended without any goals.

The real rollercoaster came in the match between Ukraine and Luxembourg's teams. The first game was marked by an overwhelming advantage for Ukrainians, who scored three goals but almost squandered their lead — 4:2. In the second match, it was the Luxembourgers dominating, while Ukrainians ran out of time to avoid a loss — 2:3.

If in matches against Poland's team Ukraine lost twice without any chances — 0:2 and 1:3, then in the final encounters with opponents from Lithuania our boys achieved victories with a clean sheet — 1:0 and 3:0.

In the match for third place between Ukraine's team and Finland, there was a wild intrigue as both teams scored countless goals to their liking. However, in the end of the two-match series, Ukrainians still finished fourth — 3:4 and 2:3.
