Note for your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on May 12, 2022, regarding the Russian invasion into our country.

The seventy-eighth day of heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the Russian military invasion has begun.

The enemy continues to conduct offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone with the aim of establishing full control over the territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kherson regions and maintaining a land corridor with temporarily occupied Crimea.

In the Volynian, Polesian, and Northern Directions units of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus continue to perform tasks aimed at reinforcing the Ukrainian-Belarusian border in Brest and Gomel regions. The threat of rocket-bombardment strikes against objects on our territory from Belarus remains.

At checkpoints and in border areas of Bryansk and Kursk regions, reinforced border service units of the FSB and Russian Federation armed forces are present. In addition, Russian occupiers carried out artillery shelling of populated areas in the Gorodnyansky district of Chernihiv region and delivered an air strike on a populated area in Shostka district of Sumy region.

In the Slobozhansky Direction the enemy is conducting redeployment of troops to prevent further advance of our forces towards the state border of Ukraine. In areas north of the city of Kharkiv, the enemy shelled units of our forces with artillery in order to inflict casualties among personnel and military equipment.

In the Siversky Direction occupiers are conducting redeployment of troops for resuming offensive operations towards Barvinkove and Siversk. To reinforce forward units, the enemy moved a battalion tactical group.

With the aim of replenishing units that suffered losses and logistical support of military groups, the enemy transferred to a designated area approximately 300 units of armaments and military equipment.

In the Donetsk Direction units of the enemy are attempting to develop offensive operations on the Lyman, Severodonetsk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Kurakhove axes. The main task remains establishing full control over Rubizhne, capturing Lyman, and Severodonetsk.

In the Lyman Direction the enemy has crossed the Siversky Donets river to introduce main forces and conduct an offensive towards Seversk in the direction of Green Valley and Novoselivka. Combat operations are ongoing.

To ensure overcoming the water obstacle, the aggressor from the territory of the Russian Federation towards Kreminna has deployed pontoon bridge equipment.

In the Severodonetsk Direction the enemy is conducting an offensive operation in the direction of Kudryashivka and Severodonetsk with partial success.

In the Bakhmut Direction the enemy is carrying out assault operations towards Pervomaysk, Komishuvahti. Combat operations are ongoing.

In the Avdiivka Direction the enemy is conducting assault operations in the direction of Novobakhmutivka and Novokalynove.

In the Kurakhove Direction the enemy is advancing towards Stepne — Novomikhailovka, Slavne — Novomikhailovka, Oleksandrivka — Mariinka. Combat operations are ongoing.

In Mariupol the main efforts of the occupiers are focused on blocking and attempts to destroy our units in the area of the "Azovstal" plant. The enemy continues to deliver air strikes.

In the Zaporizhzhya Direction the enemy shelled our troops with heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers.

In the Southern Bug and Tavrian Directions the enemy is attempting to improve its tactical position.

In the Mykolaiv and Kryvyi Rih Directions the enemy continues artillery shelling of positions of our troops. To detect changes in the situation of Defense Forces, the enemy conducts aerial reconnaissance, including with the use of UAVs.

In addition, in the Mykolaiv Direction near Nova Kakhovka, the enemy is preparing engineering units for pontoon bridge construction.

In the Tavrian Direction Russian forces conducted replenishment of supplies and demonstrative actions aimed at restraining our troops' operations.

In the Bessarabian Direction there have been no significant changes in the situation.

In the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, defenders of Ukraine repelled nine enemy attacks over the past day, destroyed eight tanks, six units of armored combat vehicles, five cars, and one air defense system of the enemy.

Anti-aircraft defense units shot down four UAVs of the "Orlan-10" type.

The enemy is suffering losses on other fronts as well.
