Note to your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on May 8, 2022, regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

The seventy-fourth day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the Russian military invasion has begun.

The enemy continues a full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine.

The adversary does not cease offensive actions in the Eastern Operational Zone with the aim of establishing full control over the territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kherson regions and maintaining a land corridor between these territories and occupied Crimea.

On the Volynian, Polesian, and Northern Directions the situation has not changed significantly.

There remains a threat of missile and air strikes from Belarusian territory against objects in our country.

Certain units of the Russian Federation's Armed Forces continue to perform tasks related to covering the Ukrainian-Russian border area in Bryansk and Kursk regions.

On the Slobozhansky Direction the enemy has concentrated its main efforts on preventing further advancement of our troops towards Ukraine’s state border north and northeast of Kharkiv city. The adversary carried out artillery shelling in the areas of Prudyanka, Slatyne, and Tsirkuni villages. To strengthen defenses around Kozacha Lopan village, the enemy conducted engineering equipment measures.

On the Izium Direction the enemy has concentrated its main efforts on preparing for continued offensive operations along the Izium-Barvinkove and Izium-Sloviansk axes. To reinforce units from Russian territory, the adversary relocated two battalion tactical groups of the 35th Combined Arms Army to designated areas. Artillery shelling of positions held by Defense Forces units was carried out.

To clarify the situation of our troops, the enemy continued aerial reconnaissance in the areas around Izium and Kamianska villages.

On the Donetsk Direction enemy groupings continue offensive actions on the Lyman, Popasna, Severodonetsk, and Avdiivka axes.

On the Kurakhivsky Direction, under artillery support, the adversary attempts to resume offensive operations towards Novomikhailovka village.

On the Lyman Direction, as a result of assault actions, the enemy seized the northern outskirts of Shandryholovo.

On the Mariupol Direction, the adversary continues to block our units in the area around the Azovstal plant. Under artillery and tank fire support, it conducts assault operations.

The enemy continues to deliver weapons, military equipment, ammunition, fuel and lubricant materials for the needs of forces on this axis.

On the Southern Buzhsky and Tavriysky Directions, enemy groupings under air support are striking at military and civilian objects, conducting redeployment and reinforcement of units, reinforcing fire systems and material-technical support.

On the Kryvyi Rih Direction, to detect positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, the enemy used «Orlan-10» UAVs.

On the Bessarabian Direction the situation remains tense. Military formations in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova and subunits of the Russian military group remain at full combat readiness.

Black Sea Fleet ships of the Russian Federation continue to perform tasks related to isolating the area of combat operations, conducting reconnaissance, and providing fire support on the coastal direction in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.

Over the previous day, air defense missile units shot down one Mi-28N helicopter, seven «Orlan» UAVs, two «Forpost» UAVs, and two cruise missiles. Additionally, two «Orlan» UAVs were destroyed by ground-based air defense missile units.

On the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, defenders and defenderesses of Ukraine repelled nine enemy attacks over the past day, destroying 19 tanks, 21 units of armored combat vehicles, four special armored vehicles, six cars, and one unit of specialized engineering equipment.
