In the first round of the Euro 2022 elite round, Ukraine's youth national team (players born in or after 2005) defeated Kosovo (2:0), while in the second match, unfortunately, they lost to Poland (2:3). Today, the blue-and-yellow team faces a challenging test against the tournament hosts — Italy.

As a reminder, to qualify for the final tournament, it is necessary to finish first or second in the group (in case of finishing second, they must have no worse results than Hungary, which finished second in Group 1 with one gold point and a goal difference of -2).

In case of equal points within the group, according to the rules, direct matches are taken into account first. Given the situation, Ukraine's team needs to win against Italy. Then our team guarantees either first or second place (with three gold points). In case of a draw with Italy, we need to hope for Poland's defeat by Kosovo. This way, we finish second with four gold points. In case of losing to Italy, the task can only be accomplished if Kosovo beats Poland with a two-goal or three-goal difference (only 3:0, 4:1). This is necessary so that our team, finishing second, has three gold points over Kosovo, which will then finish third.
