Note to your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on April 16, 2022, regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

The fiftieth day of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the Russian military invasion has begun.

A large-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation against our state continues. The most active actions of the enemy are being recorded on the Slobozhansky and Donetsk fronts.

On the Volynsky, Polesky, and Northern fronts, the enemy did not conduct any active operations. There is movement, likely of separate support units from the 35th and 36th Combined Arms Armies of the Eastern Military District. Cargo and special vehicles as well as fuel tankers are moving to loading areas.

On the Slobozhansky front, occupiers continue combat operations with separate units from the 6th, 20th Combined Arms Armies, 1st Tank Army of the Western Military District, 35th and 36th Combined Arms Armies, and 68th Army Corps of the Eastern Military District, airborne troops, coastal forces of the Baltic and Northern Fleets.

The main efforts of the enemy are focused on regrouping and reinforcing military units, continuing partial blockades of the city of Kharkiv and its shelling with artillery.

In the area around the town of Izium, the enemy has concentrated up to 22 battalion tactical groups. The main efforts of the enemy are focused on holding previously occupied positions and achieved lines. To strengthen the grouping in this direction, additional units from the 35th Combined Arms Army are being deployed.

It is not excluded that the enemy may activate operations towards the populated areas of Izium and Barvinkove with the aim of entering behind the lines of United Forces around the city of Slovyansk.

On the Donetsk and Tavriysky fronts, the enemy is trying to hold seized territories. Main efforts are focused on taking control of populated areas such as Popasna and Rubizhne, establishing full control over Mariupol city. Measures for restoring combat readiness and replenishing ammunition are being used. Efforts are made to improve tactical positions. Shelling continues along most fronts.

On the Severodonetsk front, no significant changes in the situation have been noted, but enemy fire intensity has increased with the aim of inflicting losses and exhausting our troops, possibly preparing for offensive operations.

On the Popasnyansky front, the enemy is conducting constant artillery strikes on units of our forces. Using motorized rifle subunits in coordination with a battalion from one of the private military companies, they are trying to improve tactical positions and advance deeper into the town of Popasna. They have not succeeded.

In the area around the city of Toretsk, the enemy continues periodic artillery strikes with the aim of exhausting our troops. Preparations for activating combat operations in the Avdiivka area are ongoing.

On the Southern Buzhsky front, the actions of the enemy were characterized by measures to restore combat readiness, replenish supplies and engineering equipment at positions around populated areas such as Lubymyvka, Pytrivka, Khrechenivka. Efforts are being made to strengthen forward positions with likely units from mobilization reserves of 1st and 2nd Army Corps.

It is expected that the enemy will continue combat operations aimed at reaching administrative boundaries of the Kherson region and attempt to resume an offensive.

In the Azov Sea waters, naval units of the enemy are continuing tasks related to blocking Mariupol port and providing fire support on coastal fronts.

Considering the presence in the Black Sea waters of Russian military ships armed with cruise missiles «Kalibr», a heightened level of threat remains regarding the possible use by occupiers of missile armaments against objects of the defense-industrial complex and logistical infrastructure of our state.

In the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions over the past day, ten enemy attacks were repelled, three tanks, one armored personnel carrier, one unit of special equipment, two vehicles, and three artillery systems of the enemy were destroyed, one armored personnel carrier of the occupiers was captured.

By units of Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the previous day seven aerial targets were hit: one aircraft, one helicopter, three UAVs and two cruise missiles.
