The head coach of Ukraine's U-20 national team, Dmitry Mykhaylenko, has summed up the training camp held in Turkey.

Ukraine's youth national team (players born no later than 2005) qualified for the World Cup U-20 after finishing the European Championship U-19 finals. The tournament will take place in Chile this autumn.

One of the stages of preparation for the World Cup was a camp held in Turkey, where the blue-and-yellow team played two friendlies against Northern Ireland U-21 (1:0) and Norway U-20 (1:0).

The head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Dmitry Mykhaylenko, shared his conclusions about this camp with the official website of the UAF.

"I was very satisfied with the last camp," said the coach. "This applies to all aspects of work: how the boys approached the training process and how the team played. I was impressed by the players' passion and their desire to show themselves in the best light."

"What can you say about the opponents in friendly matches?"

"We knew both Northern Ireland and Norway quite well, as we played against them in last year's European Championship finals. I've already mentioned that Norwegians twice reached the semifinals over the past two final rounds of Euro, so it's worth talking about their strength. And Irishmen, traditionally for Brits, are a tough and resilient team. Moreover, they're slightly older than us."

"Our team won both games 1-0..."

"For me, that's not crucial right now. We're currently focusing on different goals. We have many new players; we are building the game and preparing for the World Cup. For now, I'm not looking at the score but observing the progress of my wards. That is what matters most to me. And it pleases me that we didn't allow our opponents to create much in front of our goal. As for greater effectiveness, time will be needed for this too. We are working on this aspect as well."

"Is there anyone among the players who pleasantly surprised you?"

"In the team were performers we knew before and those who joined the national squad for the first time. And I can say that I was pleased with how the team played in defense, which I also mentioned earlier. But I won't single anyone out to avoid hurt feelings. There are also players who have significantly improved over the eight months since our last meeting."

"Are there already plans for further work?"

"Yes, we plan to gather in June, train and play two or three friendly matches. This will be the final camp before the World Cup."
