U-15: Ukraine defeats Turkiye to secure third place at UEFA Development Tournament
Today, Ukraine's U-15 team (players born in 2010 or later) concluded their participation in the UEFA Development Tournament in Portugal.
In their previous matches at the Cidade do Futebol sports complex in Lisbon, Dmytro Mykhailenko's side suffered a 0:3 loss to Portugal and secured a victory over Italy in a penalty shootout after a 3:3 draw (4:3 on penalties).
In their final match of the tournament, Ukraine faced Turkiye. Early in the first half, the Turkish team held the territorial advantage, but the Blue and Yellows managed to level the game and created at least three dangerous chances near their opponent’s goal. Unfortunately, they couldn't beat goalkeeper Salcı. Meanwhile, Turkiye also had a good opportunity to take the lead, but forward Esad Deniz failed to convert.

Early in the second half, Ukraine finally broke the deadlock. In the 53rd minute, Artem Rybak unleashed a long-range shot that was parried by the goalkeeper, but Illia Bodak was quick to capitalize on the rebound, making it 1:0. Just six minutes later, Zakhar Osmukhin charged down the left flank into the penalty area, where he was fouled from behind. The referee awarded a penalty without hesitation, and Osmukhin himself converted the spot-kick to double Ukraine’s lead.
The final blow came from Ruslan Dyachok, who scored from close range, sealing a 3:0 victory for Ukraine. With this result, Ukraine secured third place in the UEFA Development Tournament.
