Dmytro Mykhailenko: "It was valuable to compete against Europe's top teams"
Head coach of the Ukraine U-19 team, Dmytro Mykhailenko, summarized the team's October training camp.
After returning from Spain, where the Ukraine U-19 team (players born in 2006 or later) participated in an international tournament, head coach Dmytro Mykhailenko shared his thoughts on the team's progress in an interview with the UAF's official website.
"We are pleased that we had the opportunity to play against some of the best teams in Europe, namely Netherlands and England," Mykhailenko said. "This was the kind of experience our players, who compete in the Ukrainian championship, need ahead of the European Championship qualifying round. We tested our strength and experimented with different player combinations."
"In these friendly matches, we were able to evaluate all the players. At this point, we have almost finalized the squad for the trip to the Netherlands. The coaching staff now understands how to utilize each player in different situations on the field. It's crucial that by November, all the boys we are counting on remain healthy."
