Roman Yaremchuk: "I hope the team approaches the game with great responsibility and shows its potential"
Ukraine national team striker Roman Yaremchuk, alongside head coach Serhiy Rebrov, took part in a press conference ahead of the UEFA Nations League 2024/2025 match against Albania.
— Do you feel the hospitality and support from Czechia?
— It’s a great pleasure for us to be here, and we truly feel the support from the Czech people and see their position. I want to thank them for that. I hope that tomorrow, in the stands, they will support us just as much, and we’ll have a great atmosphere.
— This is the first national team camp since the Euros. Have the players talked and reflected on the tournament?
— We communicate quite often, not just within the team. We understand that maybe we didn’t fully show our potential, but we collected four points, which is the best result for the national team in the European Championships. Of course, in the match against Romania, we didn’t show what we wanted or the level of play we were capable of. But in the following matches, we demonstrated that we have great potential. I hope that tomorrow, we will at least avoid repeating the situation from the Romania game. We have a young team, and the guys are learning from their mistakes. I hope the team approaches the game with great responsibility and shows its potential.
— You’ve recently joined Olympiacos. How is your adaptation going, and how ready are you to help the Ukrainian national team tomorrow?
— Of course, the first months in a new team are always challenging. But I was welcomed well, and I feel good. I can say that my body is telling me I’m in good condition. Tomorrow, like all the guys, I aim to give my all to bring joy to Ukrainians and secure three points. Right now, my focus is on the national team, and I’ll talk about Olympiacos when I return to the club.
As a reminder, in September, Ukraine will play two matches in Group B1 of the UEFA Nations League 2024/2025 in Prague. On September 7, they will face Albania at Epet Arena in the first round, and on the 10th, they will play away against Czechia at Eden Arena.
