Andriy Shevchenko: "I hope the Olympic team shows the same quality in their next match"
UAF President Andriy Shevchenko comments on Ukraine's Olympic team victory over Morocco.
On July 27, the Ukrainian Olympic team secured a crucial 2:1 victory over Morocco in their second group-stage match of the 2024 Games football tournament. UAF President Andriy Shevchenko shared his thoughts on the game.
"We achieved a very important victory. For the first time in history! We played with ten men against a very strong opponent. So today, I have very positive emotions. I hope the team will show the same quality of football in the next match. We will do everything we can to keep the team motivated, to step onto the pitch, and play for Ukraine.
We need to forget the first match against Iraq and put it aside. It’s great that the players made the right conclusions from that game. They need to bring the same mindset to the next match. Because today, there was the right attitude, fighting spirit, and the desire to win. That’s why we won."
