Kiril Fesyun: "We've taken only the first step in the Olympics"

Kiril Fesyun, the goalkeeper of the Ukraine Olympic team, shared his thoughts on the match against Morocco in the Olympic football tournament.

On July 27, Ukraine’s Olympic team secured a 2:1 victory over Morocco in their second group-stage match of the 2024 Games. Fesyun discussed his experience and the challenges faced during the game.

“It was a bit challenging because the Moroccan fans put incredible pressure on us. But when you're facing such an attack, it motivates you to show the whole stadium that we are here not just to be present but to fight for our country.

After the goal we conceded, my teammates said, "Can’t you save a penalty?" In the second match, a penalty was awarded. It’s tough — two games and two penalties, but there’s nothing we can do about it. I’m almost out of energy after this match. I just want to go to the room, fall on the bed, and sleep.

Today we’ll celebrate a bit, but tomorrow we’ll prepare with renewed strength for the game against Argentina. We’ve only taken the first step in this Olympics. There’s a lot of work ahead and a very important game coming up,” said Kiril Fesyun.
