EURO 2024. Latest from Ukraine's camp: return to Taunusstein and training with a reduced squad

The national team of Ukraine returned from Düsseldorf to Taunusstein and held a training session without the starting lineup from the match against Slovakia.

After the first-round match, the Blue and Yellow team left their transfer hotel at 11:00 a.m. and returned to their tournament camp at the Légère complex after a two-and-a-half-hour bus journey.

Following lunch and rest, 17 players headed to the familiar stadium in Hallberg.

Today's session was for the players who did not play against Slovakia or came on as substitutes. Team captain Andriy Yarmolenko opted for a run and recovery exercises outdoors over rehabilitation procedures at the hotel, which was scheduled for the nine other players from yesterday’s starting lineup.

The goalkeepers, as usual, worked in full trio under the guidance of Rustam Khudzhamov, despite one of them playing all 90 minutes yesterday.

Meanwhile, the main group focused on ball retention and quick decision-making exercises, practiced tackling and worked on attack development and finishing. In addition, the players took plenty of shots on goal. Technique, tactics, and speed were all crucial today. It’s essential to elevate the functional level of the players with less game time to match those who played in the first two matches.

Tomorrow, the Ukrainians will continue their preparations in Taunusstein.
