Today, June 16, Ukraine's Olympic team concluded their performance at the Tournoi Maurice Revello in France with a final match against the Ivory Coast.
In the group stage, Ruslan Rotan's squad defeated Indonesia (3:0), Italy (4:0), Panama (2:0), and Japan (2:1), earning six days to prepare for the final. Today, in Salon-de-Provence, the blue-yellows competed for first place against the Ivory Coast.

The first chance was created by the African team as Abdramane Konate shot over the crossbar. In the 7th minute, Shostak intercepted a deep pass, stole the ball from his opponent, and scored the opening goal. The opponents had a good chance, but Odilon Kouassi missed after a corner kick. In the 26th minute, Sikan tested the goalkeeper with a free kick. Soon after, Sikan set up a goal for Khlan, stealing the ball from the defenders and passing to his teammate for an easy finish.
Before the break, the Ivorians had several dangerous shots past Fesiun’s goal, and their pressure paid off as Watro finished a partner's cross in added time to reduce the deficit.

In the second half, the Ivorians pushed forward again, creating several half-chances. Our team responded with a dangerous shot on target by Salyuk after a corner kick. Krasnopir missed a great opportunity, and in the next attack, the Ivorians equalized when Watro finished a move following a turnover near our penalty area.
The game then broke into segments with numerous pauses. Both teams lacked energy in the final stages, but chances still emerged. Fesiun had to make a save after a shot by Goudues. The blue-yellows replied with a blocked shot from Yarmolyuk inside the penalty area.
The match ended 2:2 in regular time, and Ukraine emerged victorious in the penalty shootout, winning 5:4. Thus, the blue-yellows clinched first place in the international tournament in France.
