Tuesday, June 16, the Ukrainian Olympic team preparing for the summer Games will conclude their participation in the international tournament in France, Tournoi Maurice Revello, with a match against Ivory Coast's U-20 team. The final game of the competition will start at 7:15 PM Kyiv time.
In the group stage, coach Rostyslav Rotan's wards confidently won Indonesia U-20 — 3:0, thrashed Italy U-21 — 4:0, outplayed Panama U-23 — 2:0 and Japan U-19 — 2:1. By securing first place in their quintet, blue-and-yellow have earned the right to compete for the main prize against another group's winner — Ivory Coast U-20 team.
"We did not make results an issue number one at this tournament but appetite comes with eating. This is a final, a good opponent, we will try to play at our maximum. Overall, the main thing is that during these competitions we managed to establish understanding on the field and put our ideas into practice.
We do not look at the opponent, only focus on our game. We want to prepare for the Olympics not just physically but also mentally, psychologically. With an understanding of what we want and what we are doing. We need to give it 100% in France. Less than a month from now we will gather near Bordeaux for Olympic preparation. In five to seven days we will determine the team composition, discuss personnel issues with clubs. During wartime, it is important to work together for our country," — said head coach of Ukraine's Olympic team Rostyslav Rotan.
