Serhiy Rebrov: "This result ensures a calm preparation for the Euros"

Following the friendly match against Moldova, which ended in a 4:0 victory, the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Serhiy Rebrov, held a press conference.

— Are you satisfied with your team's performance? Are there any mistakes that need to be addressed in the future?

— Mistakes always exist, and that's why we play these matches. Whether we win or lose, it is crucial to analyze the game. This result ensures a calm preparation for the Euros.

This was the last game before the final tournament. Our players understood that they needed to set the tempo. Moldova was not weak today. They tried to show their best. But we dominated in the first half, and the early goal gave us confidence.

— Did this game help you prepare for EURO 2024?

— This game was important for us. I understand that the Moldovan players were playing their last match before vacation. We are pleased that we played against their first team and had the opportunity to prepare. We are very happy to have played in Moldova. Of course, all the matches we have played have helped us prepare.

— What is the condition of Vitaliy Mykolenko?

— I was told that he had already had an MRI. As far as I understand, it's not that bad. We hope for the best, and another examination will be done tomorrow. I am somewhat relieved because I was told there is nothing serious.

— Did you choose Moldova as a sparring partner because their playing style is similar to Romania's?

— When we were choosing these matches, we were looking for opponents. We are grateful that Moldova agreed to play. We did not think about it that way. Moldova is an independent country and should not be compared to Romania.

— Is your team ready for the match against Romania? We have seen the last three games with different results…

— I am pleased that we played three friendlies. We will see how Mykolenko feels. Players are gaining optimal form through these matches. We still have a week of training, and we will prepare.

— What result at the European Championship would satisfy you?

 — Predicting results is for the fans, while we need to focus on each match. Now we will prepare for the serious game against Romania.
