Futsal EURO 2026: Ukraine opponents revealed in main qualifying round
Today, May 30, the main round draw for the Futsal EURO 2026 qualification took place. The 40 teams were divided into 10 groups of four participants each, who will compete from December to April for 10 direct slots in the final stage and eight places in the playoffs.
The 2026 European Futsal Championship will be the second edition following the expansion of the final stage from 12 to 16 teams and the decision to hold the tournament once every four years instead of two.
Futsal EURO 2026: Format
The qualification consists of three stages: preliminary round (mini-tournaments), main round (home and away matches), and playoffs (home and away).
The tournament hosts, Latvia and Lithuania, automatically qualify for EURO 2026. Some teams started in the preliminary round, while others entered directly into the main round.
Main Round (December 9, 2024 – April 16, 2025)
The 40 participants (34 top teams based on the December ranking and six best teams from the preliminary round) were divided into 10 groups of four teams each. Each national team will face the others in their group at home and away. The 10 group winners will join Latvia and Lithuania in the final stage, while the eight best second-place teams will compete in the playoffs.
During the draw, teams were placed into four pots based on their coefficients as of April 18, 2024. The Ukrainian national team was placed in the fourth pot.
As a result of the draw, the blue-yellow team landed in Group 1, where they will face Romania, Germany, and Cyprus.

Group 1: Ukraine, Romania, Germany, Cyprus.
Group 2: Finland, Italy, Belarus, Malta.
Group 3: Poland, Slovakia, Moldova, Turkey.
Group 4: Slovenia, Hungary, Montenegro, Norway.
Group 5: Croatia, Azerbaijan, Sweden, Greece.
Group 6: Kazakhstan, Armenia, Denmark, Albania.
Group 7: Portugal, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Andorra.
Group 8: Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, England, Switzerland.
Group 9: Serbia, Czechia, Belgium, Austria.
Group 10: France, Georgia, Kosovo, Bulgaria.
Playoffs (September 15–24, 2025)
The eight teams will be divided into four pairs. After home and away matches, the final four participants for the final stage will be determined.
Final Tournament (January 18 – February 8, 2026, exact dates to be announced later)
Sixteen teams will be divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.

Playoff Draw: May 15, 2025.
Playoffs: September 15–24, 2025.
Final Stage: January 18 – February 8, 2026.
It's worth noting that the Ukrainian national team finished fourth at the Futsal EURO 2022 in the Netherlands, with Portugal being the reigning champion.
