WU-16 success: Ukraine secured top spot in UEFA Development Tournament in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Ukraine's WU-16 team concluded their participation in the UEFA Development Tournament in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a victory over the hosts.
The revamped roster of Ukraine's WU-16 squad in this age category (born between 2008 and 2009) held a brief training camp in Lviv before heading to Hadzici in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the UEFA Development Tournament.
The Ukrainian team faced the hosts along with peers from North Macedonia and Slovenia. Each team was scheduled to play three matches. Three points were awarded for a win, while in the event of a draw, a penalty shootout would decide, with the winner receiving two points and the team without success earning one point.
In previous matches, the Ukrainian team defeated Slovenia (3:1) and North Macedonia (4:0). Today, under the guidance of coach Serhiy Sapronov, they battled against the Bosnian and Herzegovinian team for the top spot.
Our girls managed to secure a victory against the hosts with a score of 3:2. Karina Lespukh scored a brace, while Maria Kuts also found the net. With three victories in three matches, the Ukrainian team emerged as the champions of the competition.
