EURO 2024 (U-19) final tournament draw revealed: Ukraine placed in Group A
The draw for the final tournament of the 2024 UEFA European Under-19 Championship took place, setting the stage for the young talents of the continent. Among the participants, the Ukraine team, consisting of players born no later than 2005, found out their opponents.
Recall that on March 26, our team concluded the elite round of the Euro 2024 (U-19) qualifiers in style, securing a victory against Switzerland (3:0). Before this, under the guidance of coach Dmytro Mikhaylenko, they defeated North Macedonia (2:0) and Latvia (3:0). With a flawless performance, the blue and yellow team topped their group, earning a ticket to the final tournament of the European Championship, scheduled for July 15-28 in Northern Ireland, featuring eight national teams.
In the draw, the Ukrainians were placed in Group A, alongside Northern Ireland, Norway, and Italy. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, with the final scheduled for July 28 at Windsor Park in Belfast.
While there won't be a match for third place, a fifth-place playoff is scheduled. This is because Europe will delegate five representatives to the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Chile, featuring 24 national teams. Therefore, the winner of the match between the third-placed teams in each group will join the four semifinalists. Like the semifinals, the playoff is set for July 25.
It's worth noting that Ukraine clinched gold at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Euro 2024 (U-19) final tournament draw results:
Group A: Northern Ireland, Norway, Italy, Ukraine.
Group B: Denmark, Turkey, France, Spain.
This marks Ukraine's eighth appearance in the UEFA European Under-19 Championship final tournament.
