WU-19: Ukraine started Round 2 of Euro 2024 qualifiers with defeat
Today, on April 3rd, in the Czech city of Chomutov, the Ukrainу women's youth team WU-19 started the Round 2 of Euro 2024 qualification in League A with a match against France.
Following the draw, Nataliya Ihnatovych's team found themselves in Group A4 alongside France, the Czech Republic, and Norway. In the opening match, the blue-yellows faced off against the French. The game took place in Chomutov, where our team had previously conducted training sessions.
The first half was dominated by the opponents, but the Ukrainians managed to keep a clean sheet. However, in the 73rd minute, Epha-Epha put France ahead. Later, Novikova saved a penalty from Schossenott, but in stoppage time, the opponents doubled their advantage – 2:0.
The next match for Nataliya Ihnatovych's team will be against Czechia on April 6th.

The second round of qualification will determine seven teams that will join Lithuania in the final stage of the UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship, as well as the teams that will move from one league to another. The seeding during the draw for the second round was determined by the positions the national teams held in the first round in autumn.
In League A, 28 teams will play in seven groups, including seven teams that moved up from League B after the first round. The seven group winners of League A in the second round will secure spots in the final stage, with matches scheduled from July 15 to 27, 2024. Teams finishing fourth in the groups will start the first round of the 2024/2025 season in League B.
There are 23 teams in League B, including those relegated from League A after the autumn stage, competing in six groups (five with four participants and one with three), vying for promotion to League A in the next edition. Lithuania will also compete in League B, although its place in the final is secured as the host.

It's worth noting, that the Ukraine WU-19 team secured the top spot in their Group B4 in Round 1.
