Information is circulating in domestic sports media that First Vice President of the Ukrainian Football Association (UFA) Vadim Kostyuchenko plans to run for president of the UFA. We remind you that on January 25, 2024, the UFA Congress will take place, one of whose agenda items is the issue of electing the association's president.

"Let us immediately set the accents: according to the statute of the organization, only permanent members have the right to nominate candidates for the presidency of the UFA — this includes 25 regional associations as well as the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) and the Professional Football League (PFL),— said Vadim Kostyuchenko in a comment to the press service of the UFA. — No one — neither the candidates themselves, nor state authorities, nor any other organizations — has such rights or opportunities. This right, I repeat, belongs exclusively to members of the UFA.

As for me personally. According to a decision by the Executive Committee of the UFA, I am responsible for preparing and conducting an extraordinary congress in accordance with the statutes of the UFA, UEFA, and FIFA. I have no plans regarding participation in the election of the president of the UFA, and such proposals have not been made to me by those members of the UFA who have the right to nominate candidates for this position.

As for the current situation, I have information that 23 organizations have already held meetings of their governing bodies, which voted in favor of Andriy Mykolayovych Shevchenko becoming a candidate for the post of president of the UFA. We are now waiting at the UFA for originals confirming these decisions to officially register them.
