To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 10.00 on September 17, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The one hundred and seventieth day of the large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has begun.

Forces of the Ukrainian Defense are continuing defensive operations on the eastern and southern parts of Ukraine, an offensive operation on the Melitopol direction, and offensive actions on the Bakhmut direction. They are destroying the enemy, step by step liberating temporarily occupied territories, and consolidating their positions.

Today, Russia launched attacks against Ukraine using cruise missiles and Shahed-136/131 combat drones. Anti-aircraft defenses destroyed 12 aerial targets.

Over the past day, more than thirty combat engagements took place. The enemy carried out eight missile strikes and fifty-seven air raids, conducted over thirty artillery attacks on our positions and populated areas. Civilian populations in Kharkiv were also affected by cynical missile strikes. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population. Over fifteen private residential buildings were destroyed or damaged, as well as a school and other civil infrastructure.

Air raids hit populated areas in Stepok, Sumy region; Mala Vovcha, Plytenivka, Synkivka, Kopanky, Kharkiv region; Novoyegorivka, Nevskiy, Luhansk region; Serbiyanka, Spirene, Klyshchyvka, Avdiivka, Severne, Krasnogorovka, Prechystyvka, Novomikhaylivka, Stary Mayoriske, Donetsk region; Svitla Dolyna, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhya region.

Artillery fire affected nearly 100 populated areas in Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, and Kherson regions.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «North», on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

In the North and Slobozhansky directions, the enemy continues to maintain cover formations along the state border. Conducts active sabotage activities in border areas with the aim of preventing our forces from moving into threatening sectors, increases the density of mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Tara», on the Bakhmut direction, forces of defense successfully repelled 13 enemy attacks near Klyshchyvka, Donetsk region. The enemy unsuccessfully attempted to break through the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kurdyumivka and Andriyivka, Donetsk region. As a result of offensive (assault) operations, forces of defense have achieved success near Klyshchyvka, Donetsk region, pushing back the enemy from occupied positions.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Tavria», on the Mariupol direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions near Mariupol, Donetsk region. Yesterday, the enemy made eleven unsuccessful attempts to push our units from occupied positions in Mariupol, Donetsk region. In addition, all attacks by the enemy in Severne, Rivnopolye, Donetsk region and Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhya region ended for him with significant losses both in manpower and equipment. At the same time, on the Avdiyivsky, Mariupol and Shakhtarsky directions, forces of defense maintain initiative, pressuring the enemy, conducting assault operations, and liberating our land.

In the Melitopol direction, our soldiers continue offensive operations, inflicting significant losses on occupying troops in manpower and equipment, forcing the enemy to retreat from occupied positions.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Odessa», on the Kherson direction, Ukrainian defenders continue counter-battery warfare, destroying supply depots and successfully striking at the rear of the enemy.

During the day, aviation of forces of defense carried out two strikes on command points, twelve — in areas of concentration of personnel, weapons, and military equipment, and five — on air defense missile systems of the enemy.

Units of rocket troops destroyed three S-300V4 air defense missile systems and five artillery systems of the enemy.

Estimated losses of the enemy over the past day amounted to: 530 occupiers, four tanks, four armored combat vehicles, fifteen artillery systems, two multiple rocket launchers, two anti-aircraft systems, four tactical drones, twelve cars and five units of special equipment.
