Note to your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 10.00 on September 16, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The two hundred and seventy-first day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine has begun.

Russian occupiers continue to ignore international humanitarian law. They not only shell the positions of Ukrainian troops but also civilian infrastructure in populated areas, terrorizing peaceful residents. Unfortunately, as a result of such terrorist acts by the enemy, there are casualties among civilians, destroyed residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.

Ukrainian defense forces continue to defend on the eastern and southern fronts of Ukraine, conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, and carry out offensive actions in the Bakhmut direction. They destroy the enemy, gradually liberating temporarily occupied territories and consolidating their positions at the lines they have reached.

During the past day, 24 combat engagements took place. The enemy carried out 59 air strikes and conducted 36 shelling operations with multiple rocket launchers both against our troops' positions and civilian objects in Ukraine. Occupants attacked Ukraine with 17 kamikaze drones of Shahed-136/131 type; all were destroyed by Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense systems.

Air strikes hit populated areas of Leonivka, Gremyach of Chernihiv Oblast; Strilecha, Kotliarivka of Kharkiv Oblast; Novoselivske, Novoyegorivka, Makieivka, Nevsko, Bihorivka of Luhansk Oblast; Spirene, Vesele, Bogdanivka, New York, Krasnogorivka, Urozhayne, Staromajorske of Donetsk Oblast; Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

More than 100 populated areas in Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson oblasts were under artillery fire.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «North» on the Volynian and Polesian directions, the operational situation remains unchanged.

In the Northern and Slobozhansky directions the enemy continues to maintain covering forces along the state border, conducts active sabotage activities in border areas with the aim of preventing our troops from redeploying to threatening sectors, and increases mine-explosive obstacles along the state border in Belgorod Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Khortytsia» on the Bakhmut direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to break through the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Yagidne and Bogdanivka in Donetsk Oblast. In turn, the forces of defense had success with offensive (storming) actions near Klyshchyvka in Donetsk Oblast.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Tavria» on the Mariupol direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near Mariupol in Donetsk Oblast. During the past day, the enemy made 13 unsuccessful attempts to push our units from their positions in this area. In addition, all attacks by the enemy near Urozhayne in Donetsk Oblast ended for him with significant losses both in manpower and equipment. At the same time in Avdiivka, Mariupol, and Shakhtarsk directions, Ukrainian soldiers maintain initiative, press on the enemy, conduct storming actions, and reclaim our land.

In the Melitopol direction, the forces of defense continue their offensive operation, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying troops, forcing the enemy to retreat from occupied positions. As a result of storming operations, the forces of defense have partial success near Verbove and Novoprokopivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, pushing back the enemy from their positions and consolidating at the lines they have reached.

In the area of responsibility of OSUM «Odessa» on the Kherson direction, our defenders continue to conduct counter-battery fire, destroy supply depots, and inflict successful strikes on the enemy's rear.

During the past day, aviation of the forces of defense carried out three strikes in areas where enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment are concentrated.

Subunits of rocket troops and artillery and unmanned systems inflicted damage on three areas where enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment are concentrated.

Estimated losses of the enemy during the past day amounted to: 350 occupiers, four tanks, ten armored combat vehicles, sixteen artillery systems, twenty-four tactical drones, thirty-three vehicles, and two units of special equipment.
