In the UEFA Youth League season-2023/2024, teams U-19 will participate in the competition. Donetsk's «Shakhtar», which will play in the group stage of the Champions League Path, and Lviv's «Rukh», which will compete on the Champions League Nations Path.

The juniors from «Shakhtar» will play in the group stage as reserves of their club, which has qualified directly for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. The names of their opponents Donetsk learned on August 31 when the draw took place in Monaco for the UEFA Champions League.

Champions League Path: 32 clubs are divided into eight groups — the same as in the Champions League.

Format

The Champions League Path will feature 32 youth teams whose senior clubs have qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League (this right was earned by Donetsk's «Shakhtar»). The Nations Champions Path will see the winners of national youth championships from 32 associations with the highest UEFA rankings, which do not qualify for the Champions League Path (Lviv's «Rukh» will compete in this section here). Its draw is scheduled for September 5.

The group compositions of the Champions League Path mirror those of the actual Champions League. The first-placed teams advance directly to the round of 16, while second-placed teams enter knockout matches.

Participants in the Nations Champions Path will play two rounds of knockout ties. Eight winners from the second round will proceed to knockout matches.

At the knockout stage, teams will play one-off elimination matches. The eight winners of the Nations Champions Path will host the eight clubs that finished second in their groups in the Champions League Path.

The eight winners of these knockout matches advance to the round of 16 where they await the eight group winners from the Champions League Path. Semi-finals and final will take place in one city.
