Poltava "Vorskla" and Kryvyi Rih "Kryvbass" have learned the location and time of qualification matches for the Women's Champions League.

On June 30 in Nyon, Switzerland, the draw for the first round of the Women's Champions League took place. For the first time in history, two teams from Ukraine will participate in these competitions this season-2023/2024: Poltava "Vorskla" (successor to "Zhitlubud-2"), which will play on the Champions Path, and Kryvyi Rih "Kryvbass", which will compete on the Path of League Representatives.

By the draw, "Vorskla" landed in Group 2 at this stage. The matches will take place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. There, Poltava's opponents in the semifinals are Estonia's "Flora".

"Kryvbass" ended up in Group 3, where the games will be held in Linköping, Sweden. There, they will play against Paris (France) in the 1/2 finals.

The current format of the Women's Champions League looks as follows:

Format of Competition

Main stage - group stage with 16 clubs. Teams will be divided into four quartets, in which they will play each other home and away from October to December.

Winners of the top two spots qualify for the quarterfinals. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, teams will play two matches each, with the final consisting of one match to be held in Bilbao, Spain.

Four teams receive direct qualification to the group stage, while the remaining twelve places are determined through qualification rounds on the Champions Path (seven spots) and the Path of League Representatives (five spots).

Qualification in both paths is conducted similarly. In the first round, teams compete in mini-tournaments, with winners advancing further. In the second round, teams are paired up to play home and away matches.

Number of Clubs from Each Association

The list of participants is based on the UEFA women's club ranking at the end of the 2021/2022 season, where Ukraine ranked 15th.

Top-6 associations in the ranking - France, Germany, Spain, England, Sweden and Czech Republic - enter three teams each.

The next ten associations - Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Scotland, Belarus, Ukraine and Austria - send two teams each. 

Other associations are represented by one team.

Stages from which Teams Start the Tournament

The winner of the 2023 Champions League and champions of three top associations (France, Germany, Spain) qualify directly to the group stage.

Champions of other associations enter the Champions Path qualification. Champions from associations ranked fourth through sixth in the ranking (England, Sweden, Czech Republic) start from the second round, while others, including Poltava's "Vorskla", start from the first.

Second-place finishers of six top associations (France, Germany, Spain, England, Sweden and Czech Republic) begin their tournament in the second round of the Path of League Representatives.

Third-place winners of these six associations, as well as second-place finishers from the next ten associations (Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Scotland, Belarus, Ukraine and Austria) enter the competition in the first round of the Path of League Representatives. Among them is Kryvyi Rih's "Kryvbass".

All Russian clubs are excluded from participation in the Women's Champions League for the 2023/2024 season.
