To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on July 16, 2023 regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The eight hundred and fiftieth day of Russia's large-scale military aggression against our state has begun.

Last night, the Russian Federation carried out another strike with surface-to-air guided missiles on Ukraine. Information about the consequences of this terrorist attack is being clarified at the moment.

During the past day, the Russian Federation carried out an attack using two Iranian Shahed drones, two cruise missiles X-22, and two surface-to-air guided missiles against Ukraine. As a result of the combat operations of the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces, two strike drones were destroyed.

In addition, the enemy carried out 40 air strikes and conducted 46 shelling attacks with multiple rocket launch systems.

The likelihood of missile and air strikes on all territories of Ukraine remains high.

The adversary is concentrating its main efforts on the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariupol directions — 39 combat engagements took place during the past day.

On the Volyn and Polesie Directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly. Signs of forming offensive groupings by the enemy have not been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are carrying out tasks in border areas with Ukraine.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky Directions, the enemy maintains a military presence. During the day, it carried out air strikes in the Volyn region of Sumy Oblast and Ustynivka of Kharkiv Oblast. It conducted mortar and artillery shelling attacks on more than 20 populated areas, including Karpovychi, Zaliznyy Mist of Chernihiv Oblast; Boyaro-Lezhachi, Bilkopitove, and Progress of Sumy Oblast, as well as Sotnitsky Cossack, Cossach Lopan', Veterinarnoe, and Krasnoye of Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupyansk Direction, our soldiers steadfastly hold their defense. During the past day, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions south of Novoselivka of Luhansk Oblast. In that same area, it conducted an air strike. Artillery and mortar shelling attacks by the enemy were suffered by Dvorichna, Krasnoye Perechne, Kolodyazhne, Zapadne, Novomlyn'sk, Kislyvka, and Berestove of Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Lyman Direction, during the day, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions east of Veselohe of Donetsk Oblast. It conducted air strikes in the areas of Novoselovsk and Bihorivka of Luhansk Oblast as well as Spirene, Veselohe, Ivan-Daryivka, Fedoriivka, and Rozdolivka of Donetsk Oblast. Artillery shelling attacks were suffered by populated areas of Novoselovsk and Bihorivka of Luhansk Oblast as well as Verkhnyokamyans'ke, Torskoye, Spirene, and Rozdolivka — Donetsk.

On the Bakhmut Direction, our defenders successfully repelled all enemy attacks in the area southwest of Andriyivka of Donetsk Oblast. The enemy conducted air strikes near Kostiantynivka and Dilievka of Donetsk Oblast. Over 15 populated areas suffered from enemy artillery shelling, including Markove, Khromove, Dilievka, Vasyukivka, and Pivnichne of Donetsk Oblast.

On the Avdiivka Direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Pereymay'skoye and conducted an air strike near New York of Donetsk Oblast. At the same time, the enemy shelled over 15 populated areas with artillery fire, including Nevel'ske, Pereymay'skoye, Stepove, Severne, and Avdiivka of Donetsk Oblast.

On the Mariupol Direction, forces of defense continue to hold back Russian troops' advance in the area of Mariupol. There an enemy air strike was carried out. It shelled over 10 populated areas, including Krasnogorivka, Mariupol, Katerynovka, and Georgiyivka of Donetsk Oblast.

On the Shakhtarsk Direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Novomikhailovka and conducted an air strike near Blagodatne, Makarivka, and Rivenpole of Donetsk Oblast. It shelled populated areas of Velyka Novosilka, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolotaya Niva, and Blagodatne.

On the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson Directions, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts to prevent further advance of our troops. It conducted an air strike in the area of Mikil'skoye of Kherson Oblast. It shelled over 25 populated areas with artillery fire, including Levadne, Novodaryivka, Hulyaypole of Zaporizhzhya Oblast; Ivanivka and Kutsurub of Mykolayiv Oblast; Dniprovskoye, Zolotaya Balka, Molodyzhne, Romashkove, and Kizomys of Kherson Oblast as well as the city of Kherson.

At the same time, forces of defense of Ukraine continue to conduct offensive operations on Melitopol and Berdyansk Directions, consolidate on achieved lines, inflict artillery fire damage on enemy targets, and take measures for counter-battery warfare.

The enemy continues to use civilian health care facilities in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine for its own purposes. For example, it was established that from the building of Mikhaylivsky Psychoneurological Boarding School in populated area Pohazne of Zaporizhzhya Oblast, approximately 200 patients were evacuated to an unknown direction and the staff was dismissed. Further on the territory and premises planned for deployment of a military hospital for treatment of Russian servicemen's injuries.

Aviation of forces of defense carried out nine strikes against areas of enemy personnel concentration during the day. Also, our defenders destroyed seven reconnaissance drones throughout the day.

Units of rocket troops and artillery inflicted damage on two ammunition depots, five artillery systems at firing positions, four areas of enemy manpower concentration, four REB stations, two air defense systems, and three important targets of the enemy during the day.

Overall, Ukrainian soldiers liquidated 500 Russian occupiers, destroyed five tanks, seven armored combat vehicles, eighteen artillery systems, one MLRS, thirteen tactical drones, eight vehicles, and two units of special equipment.
