To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on May 17, 2023, regarding the Russian invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The four hundred forty-eighth day of large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against our country has begun.

According to updated information, over the past day, the enemy carried out 31 missile strikes, including two — with S-300 missiles on civilian infrastructure in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, and two — with Kalibr cruise missiles on civilian infrastructure in Mykolaiv. Additionally, Russian occupiers delivered 57 air raids and carried out 96 artillery strikes using multiple rocket launchers against the positions of our troops and populated areas. For missile strikes, the enemy used six aeroballistic "Kinzhal" missiles, thirteen cruise Kalibr missiles (two rockets exploded in mid-air), and ten ground-based missiles (S-400, "Iskander-M"), twenty-five of which were destroyed by our defenders.

Civilian infrastructure suffered damage. Specifically, as a result of the shelling of Russian forces on populated areas such as Dvorichna, Vovchansk and Tyshchenkivka in Kharkiv region, there are casualties among civilians, destroyed residential private buildings, hospitals, and other civilian infrastructure.

The likelihood of further missile and air strikes across the entire territory of Ukraine remains high.

The enemy continues to concentrate its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Marinka directions — 55 combat engagements took place over the past day. In the epicenter of combat operations, Bakhmut and Marinka remain.

On the Volyn and Polesie Directions, signs of enemy offensive group formation have not been detected. The movement of units of Russian territorial forces, which underwent training on Belarusian ranges, continues in areas where combat operations are ongoing.

On the Northern and Slobozhansky Directions, the enemy carried out mortar and artillery shelling of populated areas such as Zaliznyy Mist, Hreminch and Muravy Chernihiv region; Romashkove, Starie Vyrki, Iskriskyshcha, Volvynne, Kondratiivka, Sadky, Zapillya, Myropillya, Velika Rybica Sumi region, as well as Kozacha Lopan, Hoptivka, Lukiancy, Gatishe, Plytenivka, Nesterne, Kruglye, Zemlyanka, Starytsia and Budarky in Kharkiv region.

On the Kupyansk Direction, over the past day, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions near Masutivka in Kharkiv region and Novoselyvskiy and Stepanovka in Luhansk region. Carried out air strikes on areas around Budarky, Vilschan, Kyslivka, Kotlaryvka and Tabayivka in Kharkiv region. Artillery and mortar shelling was suffered by Dvorichanske, Kamianka, Krasne Pereche, Figolyvka, Novomlynskiy, Dvorichna, Masutivka, Kondrashyvka, Kupyansk, Kyslivka, Tabayivka, Berestove in Kharkiv region and Stepanovka — Luhansk.

On the Lyman Direction, over the day the enemy carried out offensive actions near Bilohorivka in Luhansk region. Carried out air strikes around Bilohorivka on Luhansk and Spirene, Severskaya and Chervonoye on Donetsk. Artillery shelling was suffered by Makieyevka, Nevsky, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Verkhnyokamyanske, Torske and Spirene in Donetsk.

On the Bakhmut Direction, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions. Heavy fighting for Bakhmut is ongoing. Also, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions towards Ivanivske. Carried out air strikes on areas around Bogdanovka, Bakhmut, Ivanivskiy and Toretsk. Areas of Grigoryevka, Bogdanovka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Stupochki, Pivnichne and Toretsk in Donetsk suffered from enemy shelling.

On the Avdiyivka Direction, the enemy continues to destroy infrastructure of populated areas. Carried out air strikes on Avdiyivka and Vodyanoye, carried out shelling of populated areas Novokalynove, Berdychi, Stepole, Avdiyivka, Pervomaiskoye, Nevelskiy and Karlivka in Donetsk.

On the Marinka Direction, units of the Defense Forces repelled numerous attacks by enemy forces near the city of Marinka. Occupants carried out an air strike around Krasnogorivka. At the same time, enemy shelling was suffered by Krasnogorivka, Gostre, Marinka and Pobeda in Donetsk.

On the Shakhtarsk Direction, over the day the enemy carried out air strikes on areas around Vuhledar and Velika Novosilka. Shelled with artillery, among others, Novomikhailivka, Paraskevievka, Vuhledar, Prechistivka and Novoukrayinka in Donetsk.

On the Zaporizhzhya and Kherson Directions, the enemy is defending. Carried out air strikes on populated areas of Veremivka in Donetsk region, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka in Zaporizhzhya region and Berislav and Kizomys in Kherson region. At the same time, shelled populated areas Olhyvskoye, Malynivka, Hulyaypole, Zaliznychnye, Hulyaypilske, Bihor, Shcherbaki, Stepole and Kamiansk in Zaporizhzhya region as well as Tokaryvka, Molodyzhne and Kizomys in Kherson region and the city of Kherson.

The enemy continues to cynically use pre-school facilities in temporarily occupied populated areas for their purposes. Thus, the building of a kindergarten in Yuryivka village in Zaporizhzhya region is used by Russian occupiers as an accommodation facility. At the same time, civilians live on the territory of the kindergarten who were evacuated from nearby populated areas.

The aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 14 strikes over the past day against enemy personnel and military equipment concentrations, as well as four — against enemy air defense missile systems. During the past day, our defenders destroyed ten combat and six reconnaissance UAVs.

Units of rocket forces and artillery during the day hit six areas of enemy manpower concentration, three radio-electronic warfare stations, four ammunition depots and one point of propellant materials of occupiers.
