To your attention — operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 06.00 on May 16, 2023 regarding Russia's invasion of our country.

Glory to Ukraine! The four hundred forty-seventh day of Russia’s large-scale military aggression against our state has begun.

Around 03.30 on May 16, 2023, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine from the north, south, and east with eighteen missiles of various types including air-, sea-, and ground-based systems.

Six MiG-31K aircraft launched six aeroballistic Kinzhal cruise missiles; nine Kalibr cruise missiles were fired from ships in the Black Sea, and three surface-to-surface (S-400, Iskander-M) missiles were also launched.

All eighteen missiles were destroyed by air defense forces of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the past day, two missile strikes on Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region using S-300 SAMs were recorded. Additionally, Russia carried out 48 airstrikes and over 50 shelling attacks with multiple rocket launch systems.

The likelihood of further missile and air strikes across the territory of Ukraine remains high as the enemy continues its terror tactics.

The enemy is concentrating its main efforts on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka axes. Forty-nine combat engagements took place in these sectors over the past day. The epicenter of the fighting remains Bakhmut and Mariinka.

On the Volynian and Polissian fronts, signs of enemy offensive groupings have not been detected.

On the Northern and Slobozhanskyi fronts, the enemy carried out mortar and artillery shelling of the villages Yelina, Medvedivka, and Muravy Chernihiv region; Volkivka, Manuhivka, Stukalivka, Iskriskyshchyna, Volvynne, Shpil, and Stepek Sumi region, as well as Kozacha Lopan, Hoptivka, Lukiancy, Gatyshche, Budarky, Nesterne, Kruglye, Zemlyanka, Starytsia Kharkiv region.

On the Kupyansk front, the enemy continues to try to improve its tactical position. Yesterday it carried out unsuccessful offensive actions in the areas of Masutivka and Novoselske. It delivered an airstrike near Kislivka. Artillery and mortar shelling was experienced by Dvorichanske, Kamianka, Krasne Pereche, Mitrofanivka, Figolivka, Novomlyn, Dvoriche, Zapadne, Kindrashivka, Kupyansk, Kislivka, Tabayivka, Berestove Kharkiv region and Stehlakhivka Luhansk region.

On the Lyman front, over the past day, the enemy did not conduct offensive operations. It delivered an airstrike near Spirne. Artillery shelling was experienced by Makieivka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region as well as Verkhnyokamyanske and Spirne in Donetsk region.

On the Bakhmut front, the enemy continues to conduct offensive operations. Intense fighting is ongoing for control of Bakhmut. Additionally, over the past day, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive actions towards the village of Ivanivske. The villages of Hryhorivka, Bogdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Stupochki, Druzhba, Oleksandr-Shultyne, Pivnichne, Zalizne, Petrovka, Toretsk and New York in Donetsk region suffered from enemy shelling.

On the Avdiyivka front, the enemy conducted offensive actions near Avdiivka but was unsuccessful. It delivered airstrikes on Avdiivka and shelled Stepove, Lastochkine, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Karlivka in Donetsk region with artillery.

On the Mariinka front, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled numerous enemy attacks near the city of Mariinka. At the same time, villages such as Krasnogorivka, Gostre, Georgiyivka, Mariinka, and Novomikhaylivka in Donetsk region suffered from enemy shelling.

On the Shakhtarsk front, over the past day, the enemy carried out attacks on populated areas. Among them were Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Novoukrayinka and Shakhtarske.

On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson fronts, the enemy continues to conduct defensive operations. It delivered airstrikes on populated areas of Volne Pole in Donetsk region; Mala Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia region, and Stanislav and Kizomys in Kherson region. It also shelled populated areas such as Burlyatske, Volne Pole, Novopil in Donetsk region; Olhyvskyi, Maliivka, Hulyaypole, Zaliznychnye, Hulyaypilske, Bihor'ya, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia region; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region as well as the city of Kherson.

The enemy continues to cynically use educational institutions in temporarily occupied settlements for its own purposes. For example, one of the local schools in Yasynuvata, Donetsk region is being used by Russian occupiers to house personnel and equipment. Military hardware is hidden in the school yard while basements serve as shelters.

The aviation of Ukraine's Defense Forces delivered ninety strikes over the past day against areas where enemy personnel and military equipment are concentrated, as well as seven strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems of the enemy. Six strike drones were destroyed. Units of rocket forces and artillery inflicted damage to three command points, five concentration areas for troops, four artillery units in firing positions, an air defense system, five radio-electronic warfare stations, and a munitions depot.

In total, Ukrainian fighters liquidated 520 Russian occupiers, destroyed three tanks, twelve armored combat vehicles, thirteen artillery systems, twelve drones of tactical level, fourteen cars, and three units of special equipment.
