Today, March 28, the Ukrainian U-19 national team (players born in 2004 or later) concluded their participation in the elite round of Euro 2023 qualification with a match against Spain.
In previous group matches, under coach Serhiy Nagornyy's guidance, Ukraine lost to Luxembourg (1:2) and Denmark (1:2), thus losing their chances of qualifying for the European Championship. The final match in the group, against the hosts Spain, was played in Badajoz.
Unfortunately, by the 7th minute, the Pyrenees team already led by two goals — Palacios and Alarcon scored. Ukraine responded with a shot from Pushkarov on target, but later the hosts' advantage increased when Rodriguez added another goal. Later in the game, Pushkarov again missed for our team.
In the second half, all of Ukraine's shots either went wide or were saved by Fernandez. In contrast, Spain scored yet another goal. During injury time, Ukraine could have equalized, but Slubik hit the post. Thus, the blue and yellow team concluded their participation in the elite round with a defeat — 0:4.
