Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a statement during a meeting with media representatives at the British military base Bovington Camp after talks with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

"Ukraine needs a lot of equipment and weapons to not be waiting for a Russian offensive, but rather have Russia wait for an advance by Ukrainian troops and think about how to leave our territory. As for when we can expect the offensive, we live in a state of war, and thinking about when it will start... Has it stopped? It's just at a different level of intensity. Let’s make sure Russians are sitting and thinking about when the Ukrainian advance will begin. And think about how to leave our territory," said Volodymyr Zelensky.

In response to journalists' questions about what kind of equipment and weapons Ukraine needs today, the President emphasized that the requirements depend on both the situation at the front lines and developments within the country. Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the enemy has thousands of units of armored vehicles, even Soviet-made.

"Of course, NATO-standard modern equipment is better. But you can have ten of the best tanks in the world, but against you will be thousands of Soviet-made tanks. Then your chances are zero. And we cannot accept such a result because we have no other choice. This is our land and we will definitely win. So tanks, armored vehicles, air defense systems – these were discussed at length today and an important first step has been made," said Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to him, he will discuss these issues today and tomorrow during meetings with leaders of European countries.

The President stressed that one of the priorities is long-range weapons, and he is very pleased that the UK has heard Ukraine's needs.

"I would like other countries to hear us as well. This gives us the ability to push back the enemy even in those cities we have de-occupied so people can live there," he explained.

The head of state also noted that Ukraine is fighting against hundreds of Iranian drones and various missiles, including ballistic ones, which hit energy networks and civilian targets.

"Therefore, we need air defense systems. We are grateful to our partners who provide these systems. Thanks to this, people work, pay taxes. These funds go towards social services, pensions, teachers' and doctors' salaries, as well as soldiers' wages," said the President.

Regarding the issue of providing Ukraine with air defense systems, Volodymyr Zelensky noted that during talks he heard a signal from UK Prime Minister about their possible provision.

"Today I heard from the Prime Minister an expression of willingness to provide us with aircraft. The first step – officially said Mr. Prime Minister – is that we can start training our pilots," said the Head of State.

At the same time, he noted that this issue does not entirely depend on the UK's will.

On his part, Rishi Sunak stressed that his country is aware of Ukraine’s needs and is one of the leaders in providing aid. He reminded that Challenger tanks will be at the front within a few weeks, and the British side is doing everything to prepare Ukrainian troops for their use as quickly as possible.

According to the Prime Minister, during talks with the President of Ukraine, the issue of transferring air defense systems was also discussed.

"We are ready to provide everything, but first there must be pilots prepared to operate such sophisticated weapons. Because when it comes to completely new air defense systems, pilot training takes three years. There are already air defense system pilots in Ukraine, but they still need to be trained. This is what we discussed with Mr. President today," said Rishi Sunak and added that the issue of transferring aircraft to Ukraine is also being discussed with allies.
